Default Music and Audio Production Critique Guidelines

The purpose of this sub-forum is to help aspiring musicians and audio producers of any sort to become more proficient with their work. It is meant as a form of quality control so only serious discussion and critique stand out. Think of it as the "Critical Thinking" forum for music and audio production.

The reason all of these guidelines aren't being enforced for the entire Musicians' Jungle Gym forum is because FFR is not a site that is meant to mainly target a userbase with exceptional experience in this area. We don't want to intimidate any beginners from posting with this type of enforcement, but we also don't want the more experienced users to feel like they have no place for guaranteed efficient discussion.

---------------------------------------------

Some basic guidelines to get you started:

-As with the rest of the Musicians' Jungle Gym, absolutely no plagiarizing is allowed.

-If you aren't looking for critique or you have work that you simply want to show off and/or distribute, post about it outside of this sub-forum. Small talk/chitchat is not meant for this sub-forum.

-Do not post anything that isn't meant to be taken seriously. We don't care about any joke tracks you've made here. If you don't care for your work in the slightest, don't waste our time.

-Expect tough-love criticism of your work here. The goal is to point out your faults and help you improve on them. People aren't allowed to flame/troll all the same, but don't get offended when you aren't receiving sugar-coated comments. If you feel someone is giving a bad and/or biased critique, call them out on it, but act professional.

-Put some thought into your critique and get involved in the discussion. Get into detail. Comments along the lines of "I like this track!" or "This track would make for an awesome stepfile!" are not helpful for improving the quality of said track. If that's all you have to say, don't bother posting. If all you are going to say is "I agree." or "What they said." then don't post.

-Please note that this sub-forum is for everybody. Whether you want help with an electronic music project, tips on a classical composition, or just want critiques on a performance, this is the place for you!

----------------------------------------------

Moderation of this sub-forum will be strict. Any posts not helping to improve the quality of content here will be deleted and you may be banned for making such posts.

If there are particular sites that you feel would be an excellent source for help with any music or audio production, contact me and I can put them in this sticky.
