There's a lot of new people in my gym, wonder how long they'll last.

Did a new squat PR, 500x5 then some drop sets of high reps. Couldnt do hams after that HAHA

I wouldn't think a gym as hardcore as yours would get hit by many people at new years Senip.

Even the influx at my gym has been relatively tame. A few new faces, but not many. Mostly just cardio bunnies; I tried to get a treadmill after leg day on Sunday and for the first time in memory every machine was taken. God damn it was packed.

2 weeks and they'll be gone. It's impossible for me to get on a treadmill to warmup too, I hate it.

so does it make sense to run before or after you lift? i have been running before but it seems like it would be more efficient to lift. then run till you're dead...

I always run to warm up, but I also run most of the time after as well. I probably do way too much cardio, but I like it.

Always run after, if you're serious about your lifting.

Running beforehand will only interfere with your lifting.

^ Do like a warm up if you gotta do some sort of cardio, then finish off with it.

Got a mouthguard to lift with, it's really saving my patience and jaws, because when I get stressed or lift heavy I clench the shit out of my teeth.

Hit quads again yesterday, they're finally sore so doing some more hamstrings today. I may be injured but I'm not out!

thanks reach =]

also because i'm kind of plump, would it make sense to run and lift light weights to lose weight, or would the heavy weights and running burn fat and build the muscle more... meep. i'm trying.

Anybody here do fitness workouts or sprinting? I feel like running is often neglected in favor of a more aesthetic program of bodybuilding.

Nothing wrong with running beforehand for a short period of time to warm up though.

I just wouldn't do a serious, training style run. Definitely keep it for post-workout.

Adding resistance training will build a little bit of muscle while you lose fat, yeah. I definitely recommend adding it to your weight loss routine, since you'll look a lot better as the fat starts to come off.

Lift heavy with good form. You'll do more to burn fat as you build muscle.

ALso, the whole idea of "do high reps with light weights to tone" thing is basically bro science.

Sometimes I do high reps with light weights.

It really depends. What's more important than anything else in terms of weight lifting is simply this: Progressive overload.

You can play with baby weights all you want, but if you're progressively adding more and more weight to the bar over time, you'll build muscle if your diet is in check.

Yeah, my trainer tells me "Stick your ass out like you're gay and propositioning someone."

I need to be able to go back to lift, stress is wrecking me.
