FFR files to Stepmania files, possible?
Just curious if you're able to grab FFR songs and port them to stepmania. A lot of songs on there that I cant find anywhere else, if this is possible, how am I able to do this?

iirc it's impossible, if not illegal, since the artists who give permissions for the website to use their songs will not allow redistribution of the mp3's to players. It's kind of a default clause with these kinds of things.
Will add that some people have taken liberty to already include files similar to FFR in stepmania packs, which can be found here http://www.flashflashrevolution.com/...d.php?t=133223 but getting a direct link to content that's on FFR is impossible, unless you get it through the game engine. Re: FFR files to Stepmania files, possible?
The charts, as they exist on FFR, are just collections on frames that specify which frames have arrows, so they contain no information about BPMs. They are made using converters which basically simulate StepMania by making a recording of the stepchart and snapping every arrow to the nearest frame, at 30 frames per second. There is no real way to convert these FFR charts (which are just collections of frames) to a SM chart without some hypothetical extremely complicated program. And the SM charts that were used to create the FFR charts don't exist (at least publicly) on FFR or FFR servers.
You would need to get them individually from the stepartists if they have them, but also they're not allowed to be publically distributed since in submitting them you're supposed to be giving ownership of them to FFR. |
