Re: The Riddle Thread
Three men walk into a motel and ask for a room.
The desk clerk says a room is $30 so each man pays $10 towards the cost. Later, the clerk realizes he made a mistake, that the room should have been $25. He calls the bell boy over and asks him to refund the other $5 to the three men. The bellboy, not wanting to mess with a lot of change dividing the $5 three ways, decides to lie about the price, refunding each man $1 and keeping the other $2 for himself. Ultimately each man paid $9 towards the room and the bellboy got $2, totaling $29. But the original charge was $30, where did the extra $1 go? //Dan |

Re: The Riddle Thread
Oh I didn't know, I'd only heard of it yesterday.
But I think it would tickle the brain more than some of the riddles in this thread don't you think? |

Re: The Riddle Thread
weren't the rules supposed to be that if you got it right then you were supposed to put down the next one? oh well. anyways:
A man loans enough money to a person in order to buy lunch. A year later the person pays him back the same amount of money that was loaned to him and the man uses it to buy lunch. why is it that if lunch is still the relative amount of price per dollar that he cannot afford it? i know it's easy that or it just doesn't make sense so it is not really a riddle at all. |

Re: The Riddle Thread
ok that riddle above is worded weirdly, i can't even understand it lol
Here's a simpler one but I didn't figure it out when it was told to me: Greater than god, more evil than the devil, is needed by the poor, and is not by the rich - If you eat it, you will die What is it? |

Re: The Riddle Thread
the answer to that one is nothing. What's so fragile that when you say it's name that you break it?

Re: The Riddle Thread
That's pretty simple; the answer is silence. Okay, try this one.
Two friends are talking. One asks the other a single question all day long. Each time the question is asked, a different answer is given; yet, the answer is correct every time. What is the question? |

Re: The Riddle Thread
"What time is it?"
ps here's my riddle: You're supplied with 9 ball bearings, one of which has a hollow center. It weighs less, but is exactly the same as the rest when you feel/look at/hold it. You are also supplied with a balance. The kind where you put an object on each side and it shows if they are equal, not the kind that tells weight >_> You can use the balance TWICE to determine which of the nine bearings is the lighter one. Using it means you add any number to each side (the sides can vary but that'd be stupid) at the SAME TIME. You cannot add one at a time to each side, that would count as multiple uses. - Sorry if that's worded horribly. Last edited by DiscoBobbyPARANOiA; 01-26-2007 at 11:02 AM.. |

Re: The Riddle Thread
Measure three on one side and three on the other
1) If they're equal Measure two of the others, If they're equal, the last one is it, otherwise whichever weighs less 2)If they aren't equal Take the side that weighs less, measure two of them, if they're equal, the third one is it, otherwise whichever weighs less Quote:

Whoops. Thought DBP's post was just his riddle; didn't see the answer to the one I posted about.
