Re: Bitcoin $1K 7
I dont understand how someone makes actual money on bitcoin. Then again I'm not really familiar with virtual currency.

Re: Bitcoin $1K 7
actual mining is barely worth the electricity costs without an optimized setup (which would require thousands of dollars of upfront investment)
trading is definitely the way to go |

I've been in since it was at $100+ this summer. The past month has been nuts.

Re: Bitcoin $1K 7
I wish I had the guts to get into the silkroad drug scene. Mostly because the leftover bitcoins would be making me rich
I have 0.053 BTC which is 50 bucks I didn't have, was pennies a few months ago. Can't complain I guess :C What about litecoins now. My friend had been mining tons and it jumped 20 bucks yesterday apparently. I doubt they will get inflated like BTC though. Unless of course everyone wants to buy as much of them as they can because they feel like they could inflate. Maybe I should do that too...

Re: Bitcoin $1K 7
I'm holding what I have and waiting for a correction to buy back in. If the correction never comes, well, I'll still be making money. Technically, you can STILL buy in... you can buy fractions of a bitcoin, so you don't necessarily have to pay $1,000 for a full coin.

Re: Bitcoin $1K 7
Someone outline the process for me: How do you buy bitcoin, and how do you sell it for actual money? I'm curious how the process works.

Re: Bitcoin $1K 7
Basically you are assigned two keys when you run the software, one acts as an address that people can send coins to and the other as a private identifier. It then combines your private key and their public key with the bitcoins being transfered and sends that data out over the network so other clients track and verify the transaction.
From there the transaction is pretty straightforward. Find buyer/seller, Exchange keys, etc. Last edited by omega_grunt666; 11-28-2013 at 01:00 PM.. |

Re: Bitcoin $1K 7
There's also websites with open exchanges, buying/selling of bitcoins that are pretty fast. MTgox is one of em, but there's tons of others.

out.
also, we'll see what happens when value is placed on something that has no inherent value in and of itself...
