Many religious people believe that children are free from sin and therefore honorary members of God's kingdom. So, depending on your beliefs, all children are Christian.

I was talking to one of my old roommates who is a very devout Christian and he had claimed that children are born into sin. Like they literally inherit it right away and that only through God can they seek redemption and salvation for their sins.

I was kind of stunned, but I let him say what he had to say.

This was taught to me at my government-run Catholic elementary school through the late 1990s. I have no doubts that it is still being taught today. Although it may have been a "more common belief" in former times, it is still being taught to children today.

Foil, I wouldn't be stunned by your friend believing that. I have many friends who believe in original sin, simply because they've been taught to from such a young age.

They weren't seen as pure, innocent beings, akin to angels (in a lot of ways), until later on during the turn of the century, mostly during the enlightenment. So that doesn't stun me at all. Not many people I've knonwn personally think that though.
I guess God just changed his mind, eh? Got tired of chucking innocent babies into the pit of hell? lolololol
Religion =/= making sense

I've heard somewhere that there's even God-approved homosexuality in the bible. Do gays go to heaven? Who knows.

Original sin is still very much a tenet of, at least, the Catholic faith. Hence the need for infant baptism; it cleanses them of original sin.

I don't believe homosexuality is something that happens in the fetus one bit. They have not fully proved it scientifically. If they are able to change some hormones in a dog or some other animal and make it homosexual, then I will believe it.

Also, retardation is not a lifestyle. Retardation is a disability. Do you consider homosexuality a disability? ;D
I am disabled. ):

Infant baptism is dumb.

The child has no say in it whatsoever.
I mean, I believe baptism is a good thing, but I believe getting baptized should be a choice made by a person with free will. Also, the idea of un-baptized people going to hell. Who is to say that there was not still a healthy relationship between God and that person? But because they weren't dipped in some "blessed" water, they go to hell? Baptism is a thing of respect and just to sort of show that you are taking the step to follow God, not a required thing. >.>

I won't be participating. I find this to be so utterly retarded. I, myself, am gay and this just gives the people who have a problem with queers something that they want, all of them to just stop talking. It would be like all the queers are gone to them, no more queers YAY!
I'm going to continue being me, since it's been working for me.

It's not as hard as you would think, I've tried it, didn't really have any problems, besides my friends trying with their best efforts to get me to talk.

Idk. The only reason I use to do the day of silence was to be able to not do anything in school. I know its a good cause but it really doesn't do much in my opinion. Its more of like a respect thing then anything else i personally think but idk. Maybe im just randomly blabbering. I think speaking about it and spreading the word would be more helpful but maybe silence is strong too. Idk
