Re: what makes a person good at ffr
Getting the [Heavy] token would be a good starting indicator.
These are the songs that give [Heavy] by being AAA'd: 62 (H) Famouz (392 Notes / BPM 160) 64 (D2) Seven (777 Notes / BPM 140) 65 (A) AAA (1038 Notes / BPM 160) 65 (A) the Brain of the Moon (2135 Notes / BPM ???) 65 (M) Video Out A (751 Notes / BPM 178) 65 (M) Evil Approaches (783 Notes / BPM 180) 65 (A) The Games We Played, Part 4 (1124 Notes / BPM 33-236) 65 (M) Ruins (877 Notes / BPM 120) 65 (M) Amefuri Koneko (881 Notes / BPM 118) 65 (D2) Tribal Transcendency (1136 Notes / BPM 165) 946 people have unlocked [Heavy]. Seven and Famouz have by far the most AAAs (500ish) followed by Video Out A and Tribal Transcendency (250ish). FCs aren't an indication of skill as much because FFR's lifebar and combo is very lenient (the life a boo takes away is equal to the life one perfect or two goods gives and nothing short of a miss breaks combo), with the exception of Crowdpleaser and Death Piano (and also Reluctantly Accepting Temporary Overexhaustion) which require a certain level of physical prowess to simply be able to trill fast enough.

Re: what makes a person good at ffr
being able to fc 10s doesn't mean a person is good
i think that people who are able to fc most 12s without mashing are good EDIT: maybe not most 12s but some :P

Re: what makes a person good at ffr
id say you are slighty above average when you can AAA lvl 7s.
being classified as 'good' by everyone in the game, you would have to AAA lvl 11s, but on a personal lvl, unlocking (heavy) (AAAing a lvl 9 song) is a good indication that you are now good.

Re: what makes a person good at ffr
Personal classification of being good depends on how you play.
Public classification of being good is when you can AAA 11s etc...

Re: what makes a person good at ffr
I think what Zageron said is partially right.
Getting noticed amongst the community for your playing skills can happen as early as getting Otaku [Heavy] if you are active within the community. Having [Oni] is a feat more suited for veterans of the game. There are more than likely a few people who are completely unnoticed (away from alternate accounts) and have [Oni] because they aren't active in the community. A prime example of this is Moonlight_X. I was surprised to see such few posts in the forums show up in the Guru division of a tourney (no offense to you if you actually see this). |

I don't think it's entirely fair to say that you're only good when you're amazing enough to AAA a 10 or so.
I had kids watching me that were like dropping their jaws back in the day when the best I could fc was Breaking the Common. xD |

Re: what makes a person good at ffr
You're only good when you think you are. Not on whats based on other people's opinions.
Hey, if you can pass a level 1 and you feel good about it then that makes you good at ffr.

Like Guru said..its depends on your opignon...If you think that you're good because you pass Alpha Helix, its true, because you're of course better than someone in the world. Otherwise, I think you can be good only if you can PA/AAA lots of songs. Finaly, it will always a guy who said '' oh sh*t you're good! '' and another one who said '' stfu noob ''. Its always like that so...Think about that. lol ( And you can be good without being a god.)

Re: what makes a person good at ffr
The amount of scaling in FFR/Stepmania is vast... That leads to everything being subjective when talking about skill. FC'ing a 9 for me is really good, but AAA'ing a 9 is average to others.
The sheer amount of scale makes it nearly impossible to draw actual lines.

You can't be good at this game. Not even the Gods of FFR are good.

Re: what makes a person good at ffr
I consider myself decent amongst the top tier players of ffr, I think that getting all Skill Tokens would make you a "good" player

Re: what makes a person good at ffr
You ARE good, i cant get past 1-2 goods on that song, mirror or not, other than that .. i can do well on FMO and FGO songs :/ By saying "well" I wont say im good, because as i've seen before .. The second you think your good is the second you stop trying, or something along those lines, so obviously you just practice and work on your Average rank, i'd assume .. lets see..150 and below Av rank makes a good player, either that or Tier Points, anyway /end word wall.
