Default [R^3] 4 Suggestions abou UI and other things

Hello! First of all, i wanted to say R^3 is truly a beautiful engine. It works very smoothly, it's graphically appealing yet very clean, has a lot of customization options and so on. There are a few little details i noticed, though, which i think could be improved.

The first two suggestions are relatively easy to implement, and i'd love to see them added to the game. I do realize when coding is involved nothing is really quick or easy to do, but these don't look like they are very complicated.

The second two are a bit more elaborate. but i wanted to add them anyway. All of them pertain the gameplay aspect, and are designed to give the players a better and more accurate playing experience.

#1: Option to remove the bottom block

As the arrow points out, the bottom block (where the score is) hides arrows. A simple checkbox to turn it off would be very nice. If score can be turned off too it'd be even better.

#2: Choice of another color scheme for judgements

Let's face it, FFR's color scheme is a bit hard to see, judgement colors really don't stand out from one another. ITG one is more readily noticeable even at high speeds, so i mimicked that. Having an option to pick up any color of choice would be even better, but it'd probably be too much effort. Another color scheme would be fine.

#3: Frame-o-meter

Simply put, a bar which displays exactly which frame we hit for each arrow. Useful for improving accuracy i guess.

#4: Column Highlight and arrow highlight

Every non-AAA judgement would trigger a column highlight, making the player notice where and when they get a good, average, boo or miss.

Arrow highlight should be also recolored to the new colors and made more visibile.

1) Could see it being a problem for upscrollers, but I play downscroll so this isn't a huge problem for me, and seeing the score actually helps me in a way.

2) I would love to see this, simply because I hate how amazings and perfects are colored the same.

3) I see this being useful, but it would probably be a feature I would, in the end, turn off.

4) This just seems impractical for normal gameplay, but would be great in replays.

All in all, great ideas Mollo, would personally love to see 2 and 4.

1. Downscroll ftw
2. This would be great, I have amazing judgments turned off, but I could definately ultilize a different colored Boo!
3. would great feature in replays more so than 4.
4. would be a great feature for those who have judgments turned off, but who don't like to fly completely blind

Finally, R^3 is the coolest engine OF ALL TIME. Of all time.... RAWR

3 for me would be an overall not even logically reasonable. It's just too distracting.

However, 4 for replays only would be sex.

Also, judge colors addition 100% great.

But surely if you can do something as simple as use rgba in HTML and CSS you could do it in Flash?

Forgive me for the way I phrased it originally, you know as well as I do I don't know what I'm talking about. Just gonna leave this thread; sorry.

No need to abandon thread, lol. I mean i don't know jack about ffr engine and still made some suggestions, hoping they would be somewhat viable. As long as you don't mean to be pretentious about your requests, where's the problem?

There is no simple alpha tag like there is in HTML/CSS.

Alpha in CS3 uses a 0-1 scale, while colours use the 0-255 (00-ff) scale. Even in this situation, the colours aren't really css format, I just remove the # when parsing, but it's there to inform the user it's hex/css.

The tabs on the top and bottom are together in the UI, so removing one and not the other will require a separation of those two, which isn't hard.

The frame meter is kinda of a hard one to do now currently, since we don't indicate anywhere if it's early or late. It's also becoming a mess to read.

The colour columns are a easy enough idea to add.

I have come up with a better frame meter design, but it's really not that important if it's too time consuming to make. If you're interested however, i can post it.

Separation of the bottom tab from the top tab would be awesome, at this point i'd say have the option to remove both independently (and give more space for downscrollers to read from as well if they want to).

I'd love to see color colums And as i said in the same suggestion, can the arrow flash be also colored to our specified judgement color?

Sorry if i made so many requests all at once!

Could an option to change the size of the judgment words also be implemented?

Is there a possibility to have an option removing "Amazing" from the results screen? I think FFR MA is really wonky and I don't like seeing it on my results screen. If not, then that's totally fine.

In response to Mollo's proposed changes:
1) I think this could be an awesome idea. Definitely support this.
2) The judgment labels need to be recolored. This is certainly an awesome idea.
3) Maybe if there was a way to make it a little smaller/less distracting? I do find this useful, however. Considering my terrible habit of inconsistently hitting trills I could look through my peripheral vision to notice any small adjustments I need to make.
4) This would be amazing in replays. In game it would be a little distracting, so it should be left to a noticeable flash on the receptor with the corresponding color of the non-AAA judgment applied.
