Re: FFR Playing Style and Hand Position Guide
You play with your index fingers. You try to alternate but most of the time it's not possible. It's similar to playing DDR.

Re: FFR Playing Style and Hand Position Guide
If you so choose, mention something about hotkeying this:
s = left d = down e = up f = right along with the use of the numpad (4286). This would allow any keyboard (as far as I know) hit things like hands (vrofl) or just really close together arrow/jumps (48th-to-jump in Legendary Etude, for example). Whereas arrow keys + numpad hitting a hand might mean a miss on some (not all) keyboards. Also I don't think I saw 2 hands 3 fingers with the left hand on arrow keys (or in my case sdef) and the right hand on the numpad. This helps a lot with crossovers and other awkward patterns. Pros with 3-finger: Runningmen, trills, stream, consecutive jumps (but not jumpjacks) are easy to hit Depending on what a player has figured out as to what they can do with 3-finger in the format I said, jumpstream is much easier PA is relatively good, though this partly relies on the player and their rhythm too Cons: Jumpstream Really awkward patterns (some would say) You reach a pinnacle of skill and it just stops there Combined with spread: mega pwn Last edited by smartdude1212; 02-7-2008 at 07:56 PM.. |

Once Average misses are released to the public at least. If anyone didn't find it already. Oh it's a good thread though, I enjoyed reading the whole thing. |

Re: FFR Playing Style and Hand Position Guide
K so it says you need info for 3-finger, 2 hands.
Well for one, it's much MUCH easier to do crossovers than it is for index, your fingers don't have to actually cross. Same with index, really easy to do index friendly streams (obviously lol) Runningmen are way easier to do than spread, as well as there are no one-handed trills. It's basically the same pros and cons as index, but crossovers are way easier. EDIT: Oh smartdude ninja'd me by a mile lmfao. |

Re: FFR Playing Style and Hand Position Guide
I still need some good descriptions for the empty ones. I'll be revamping some of this tomorrow.

You're still going on this? Good job.
While you're at it tomorrow, can you fix this? Quote:

Re: FFR Playing Style and Hand Position Guide
What about binding both the arrow keys and WASD, and using both hands? It gives a lot of flexibility and allows you to play one handed if you need to do something else (grab the phone), not to mention the obvious advantages of using spread. Also helps with jacks, as you can split the speed of a jack in half if you're thinking about it when it comes by.

Re: FFR Playing Style and Hand Position Guide
Wow, you hit the Index pros and cons head on!
I, myself, am an Indexer and I feel like I've hit a roadblock in FFR, since nearly all of the new FMO/FGO songs are made for spread players, but I'm working on stamina and I've gotten really good with fast BPM streams. But, yeah, if you want to get amazing at FFR, you should probably start learning spread. I'm not that interested in getting great at FFR at this point, so Index is perfectly fine for me. It's also fun to play with and it happens to be the basis of every stepfile I make, which I think was a major problem with my submissions to the FMO/FGO event.
