I wouldn't think a controller would respond in this way to an electronmagnetic field of that sort, but no, I don't have anything like that in the house, nor is there any new electronics in the house at all, apart from maybe my new Blu-ray player.

So I figure, I gotta sync it for some reason. Won't sync. I know how to sync it. It doesn't work. When I press the sync button on the remote, it doesn't even light up.

And no, it's not the batteries.

But here's the kicker. I have two remotes and they both are acting the same way.
This happens.

Waaay too often and for no discernible reason.

You know how I fix it?

I just keep trying. The longest it's taken me is about twenty minutes of non-stop battery swapping, restarting, and attempts at resyncing.

It hasn't happened to me recently though. Is your firmware updated?

It's not un-updated, if that's what you mean. I'm not sure how recent my firmware is.

Are you sure it's not the batteries? If you're using rechargeables, you may have a problem.

Afro, did you download an update recently? (within the last month especially if you downloaded one on Oct 1st) <-- update was aimed at the Wii itself, but i think it affected the boot system in the controllers too.
If you're using rechargeable batteries, how old are they?
You aren't using a third party item with the wiimote? or a third party wiimote? Guitar hero controller etc...

It's not a syncing issue if the lights on the wiimote aren't working. It's wiimote issue.
The Wii itself works fine i guess.

Nope, normal AA batteries, and no, no third party items. I have a GH3 guitar, but I haven't used it in YEARS.

And yeah, I figured since the lights weren't activating that it was an issue with the controllers, but I don't see how both remotes could turn into expensive paperweights at once. If just one of them failed, I could understand it a little, but both failing makes me feel like buying a new one might not even help.

Call Nintendo. They are extremely helpful. They might be able to fix it for you.
