I have been shutting off my computers for about two decades now and never had any issues. In fact i still have one of my computers from 1995 with all the original parts with a video card from 1999 still have original though.
Honestly see off as the better option |

I run some high end parts on my desktop and I don't leave mine on running 24/7 unless I'm downloading something pretty huge. The LED lights from my PC can be annoying when I try to sleep so that's another reason I also don't run it all day. If you have a laptop, I would highly suggest you to turn it off when you're not using it so you can prevent an overheating problem. Your laptop won't die(yet), but your speed and performance will degrade even faster because you didn't take care of your machine.
