Default 東方楽踊脇 Touhou Gouyoukyou (Touhou Pad Pack Rebirth; now accepting)

Introducing Touhou Gouyoukyou, my answer to the Touhou Pad Pack II. Originally started as a part of the mintmania series, Touhou Gouyoukyou will be a high-quality Stepmania pack consisting entirely of Touhou songs: originals, rearranges, and remixes. This will be a community pack, and I encourage the lot of you simfile-authoring Touhou fans to get in on the action. And in case you're wondering, the kanji mean "music", "dance", and "armpit".

Rules and Regulations:

Guidelines are important, so here are the set of rules that must be abode by in order for your simfile to be eligible for the pack.

1. Your chosen song must be between 1:35-2:10 and must be in .ogg format.

Please do not whine about the exclusion of long versions or marathons from the pack. This will ensure that your stepfile will be compatible with ITG2 r23. If possible, try to keep your song below the 2:00 mark. More often than not, cutting of the original mp3 will be required. You can either do this yourself with programs like Audacity or Acid Pro, or you can ask one of the Touhou Gouyoukyou pack leaders to cut it for you. We'll be glad to help.

2. Stepcharts must include all difficults from Beginner/Novice to Heavy/Hard. Oni/Expert charts are optional.

This will ensure that players of all skill levels can enjoy any given file in the pack.

3. No stepchart can exceed a difficulty of 12 on the ITG rating scale.

In my honest opinion, when stepfiles start to go beyond the rating difficult of 12, they lose much of their technical difficulty and become artificially difficult. Many simfile authors have shown themselves to be capable of creating technically hard 13+s, but many more, those who make up the majority of the general Stepmania population, have shown that they are incapable. To prevent any future issues, charts cannot exceed the 12 rating unless given the full consent of the pack leaders.

4. Graphics in a .png format are required. The banner must be at 512x160, and the background must be a multiple of 640x480. CD titles are not required.

Banners at 512x160 ensure full (and the best) compatibility in both Stepmania and ITG2. Regardless of the banner size in ITG2, the most widely accepted size for a stepfile banner is a multiple of 256x80, as shown with the stepfile banner for every official DDR song. Therefore, that is the measurement we will use. A CD title is not required with your simfile; however, if one is not included, a generic "Touhou Pack" title will be used. If, for any reason, you do not like your graphics or are not capable of "good" graphic editing, or if you cannot provide a CD title but wish to have a CD title made for you, the Touhou Gouyoukyou pack leaders are ready to assist. Just ask us.

Let's review:
Quote:
1. Your chosen song must be between 1:35-2:10 and must be in .ogg format.
2. Stepcharts must include all difficults from Beginner/Novice to Heavy/Hard. Oni/Expert charts are optional.
3. No stepchart can exceed a difficult of 12 on the ITG rating scale.
4. Graphics in a .png format are required. The banner must be at 512x160, and the background must be a multiple of 640x480. CD titles are not required.
Simple enough, yes?

Judging:

The Touhou Gouyoukyou pack leaders will be critiquing all files submitted to the pack. Aspects such as sync, flow, style, and technique will be analyzed beneath a microscope. Generally, we're not OMG SUPER STRICT about these aspects, but if the file, for any reason, has glaring flaws or ridiculous artificial difficulty, it will be rejected. However, do not lose hope. Any rejected file will include suggestions on what to fix and how to make certain parts better. We want to help people become better simfile producers in the process, so we will help you in any way we can to make your simfile suitable for submission.

Submission:

Post in the thread, and let us know what you wish to submit, so we don't end up having a conflict of song choices. Song choices are on a first-come, first-served basis, so if you want to do a song, you'd best reserve it ASAP.

Sending in the file can be handled in one of two ways:
1) Upload it to a host of your choosing and PM the link to your simfile to me.
2) E-mail the simfile to me at xelamint [at] gmail [dot] com with the subject line "Touhou Simfile Submission".

Via whatever medium you decide upon, please include the name you wish to be indentified as, as well as the name of the song and the artist. As soon as we receive your simfile, it will be tested as soon as possible. Please be patient in waiting for approval.

If you have any further questions regarding the pack, please do not hesitate to ask. Contact information for the pack leaders will be provided soon. The goal is at least 26 simfiles, so let's make it happen!

Guess you don't come here often.
This is still up, and always has been. There is no point in having a rebirth to something that isn't dead yet.

Guess you don't realize I already posted in there and have come to the conclusion that the Touhou Pad Pack II is pretty much a dead idea (the first post in that thread lists the subject line as [ON HOLD]), as it hasn't gotten anywhere since the idea came about in the middle of 2008 and Xiaounlimited has shown himself to be quite poor at organizing it. So uhh, if you want to see a release of something before 2010 rolls around, you might wanna look this way. I actually have enough songs in my own WIP directory to meet the quota for this pack. I'm inviting people to come along for the ride.

Did you even bother to read the first sentence in my post?

Thanks for the heads up about this over at MotK.

Anyways, are videos accepted with the files? I have a few files that I'm thinking of bringing over to this pack instead of TPP2 (since it's stalled atm and isn't going anywhere atm).

TBH I stopped caring, hahaha. It's not that I'm incapable or bad at organizing but when I don't have motivation to do something anymore, it shows. I'm glad you did this because I'm just going to drop TPP2. I have other things on my hands I'm far more interested in completing on my own time, none of which are padfile related.

I'll leave this in your hands, then. I'll also remove my TPP2 main post and add a link to here instead.

Awesome, except now where am I going to submit my 3:00 minute files? I didn't have plans to release them publicly.

Quite a bit of the files I submitted are over 2:10 I believe. Will there be exceptions to these, because if we're going to submit files with these time limits only because of r23 and such, there won't be much point in gfx too. Most ITG2 machines are r21 btw. I haven't seen an r23 yet (well I did once, but it was later downgraded again to r21).

You can try shaving down the times a bit and editing the files to reflect this.

Personally it's the same for me. I've been to a bunch of ITG machines around here and none of them are r23. Any r23's I've seen have been downgraded to r21 since.

Though, I suppose I can't say that for every ITG cab in NA.

It was put on hold because of all the other packs out there.
Opening the exact same thing over again most likely won't attract people to it.
You have to wait for the other more popular packs to be over first for people to care.

Also, that was a jerk move to just say "No" to that guy asking for songs.
That's rejecting a potential step artist. I thought you wanted people to make files for the pack? Just because they don't know about the music doesn't mean that they can't make stepfiles..

Here is a list of a few artists you can look up if you are interested in touhou songs.

REDALiCE
t+pazolite (some touhou, some not. Be careful)
CROW'S CLAW (Metal Touhou <3)
LUV2
EXCALIpUR
ZUN
IOSYS
MyonMyon (More touhou metal )

OH SHI, i almost forgot...

dBu

Plenty more, just search Touhou music in youtube for TONS of them at easy access. Here, i will help you.

(12:00:20) Dan!: Hahaha
(12:00:45) Brandon: Me too kinda, but still.
I just got lazy
I think thats what it was with all of us

I put it on hold because like I said, I had no motivation. I figured when I had more free time I'd get more interested; but after picking up solo, I can say that's not going to happen. If anything, I might make a Touhou Solo KB Pack. At least that would see completion for sure.

Anyways, enough from us about TPP2. I don't want to derail this thread on its very first page.

p.s. ZUN composed the songs, it's kind of redundant to list him

Yeah i know, but he is still an artist :P
It's not really a remix thing is it?
I didn't really care to read what this thread is about, thought it was a copy of Xiao's

Ahh, that explains a good bit then. Forgive me if I came off as a bit rude for any reason. :3

First and foremost, this is a Stepmania pack. Graphics are important. The song length simply makes it work with r23. Quite a few arcade ops have "upgraded" the game to r23, and it would be a shame to alienate the players stuck with it, wouldn't you say? The last machine I played on was r23, and it was at a high-traffic arcade.

He can find his own songs. Google is rather easy to use. Besides, if I had linked to anything, it would've been Paletweb, a place where various Touhou doujin CDs are available for purchase.

ODI isn't really the best place to find out about my simfiles, considering how little I actually post things there. >_>

Hm...no 13s? D=

You could have said nothing above 13, but a 13 or two would be nice. >_>;

I like the idea, I think I will pull some of Zun's music and step it; I've been playing TH07-09 lately and I absolutely love the music. =D

ALSO: You mentioned in the OP that this is a high-quality Stepmania pack, while in the guidelines, you explicitly say ITG patching/music files/lengths, etc. Take note of it.
