Cow Abuse
The title may sound a bit funny especially when you think of tipping a cow over (lol) but I assure you, it's not a matter to be laughed at, especially how this affects us. Cows have been reported to be abused in the San Bernandino county (California) at the Chino slaughterhouse and a case has been filed.
State and Federal regulations make it illegal to slaughter sick or injured cows that cannot stand on their own. Yet still, they've been packing meat from cows that have been abused with tasers to the head, dragged with fork lifts, break their legs, and other cruelty. This is just barbaric with what they've done to these passive, harmless, defenseless animals. Now, the problem with this is that the risk of diseases are elevated if the cow is considered or is a "downer". Have you ever though of how many hamburgers are made of one cow? Cows are pretty big so I'm guessing a lot. Imagine if one cow had a disease and was slaughtered, processed, etc..., do you have any idea how many people will be eating from that sick cow? Thats nasty! That's just one cow though. What if there were 100 sick cows? 1000? Get where I'm going with this? Also, about half a million servings of beef are served in just Los Angeles to schools, served to little kids. Of course, the state officials are trying to resolve this problem. One precaution they took was throwing away 143,000,000 pounds of meat. That's a tremendous amount of meat wasted and must be a huge quantity of cows killed for no purpose but to be disposed of in the end. What's funny is that the USDA inspectors never saw any of this treatment. They must have hid their doings pretty good but I mean really good because the inspector came at two times a day: 6am and noon and stayed there for an 1hr to an 1hr. 30min. I'm not sure how long this was going for though. I found this to be very interesting and very repulsive at the same time. These acts were extremely cruel with no motive and was meaningless in the end and it could harm several people if not already done so. These are some links that I based this piece of writing on: http://video.aol.com/video/news-larg...istory/2070891 - Has video http://cbs2.com/local/Chino.Slaughte....2.646948.html - Has a video http://video.knbc.com/player/?id=211972 - Has a video http://www.pe.com/localnews/corona/s...6.3ce2025.html What is your opinion over this situation?

Re: Cow Abuse
Saw this on CNN. Of course animal cruelty is a bad thing.. but as far as the meat... They had a representative of the USDA, i believe, say it wasn't any reason to throw any beef out of your freezer or anything. According to him, the chance of any kind of disease is "remote." This has been going on for some time and their has been no diseases reported as a result of bad meat.
/goes to mcdonalds.

Re: Cow Abuse
well this goes to show that even in a slaughter house there is inhuman things being done.
This however wont make me stop eating meat as I enjoy it. But it now makes me want to do something about the cruel things done to animals we consume..they should be killed with respect..

Re: Cow Abuse
Even though I wont stop eating meat, that is really horrible! Don't really understand how people could be so inhumane and treat an animal like that. =/

Re: Cow Abuse
What are you talking about? Isn't it just so much fun to torture, kill, then devour these helpless, sick animals?

Re: Cow Abuse
I enjoy meat. So I try not to think about where it comes from. Or how it gets that way.

Re: Cow Abuse
This is terrible. But there is hope for America because I am AGAINST animal cruelty and all forms of it! This includes domestic animal abuse as well. I will do everything in my power to put an end to animal abuse across the nation if I were elected. Vote Ron Paul 08.

Re: Cow Abuse
EA made "a piece of writing"
well the people in the slaughterhouses get bored of simply killing the cows so they try to have more fun and torture them. Anyways, they should investigate more into this matter- treating cows like this isn't fair at all. Killing them for their meat isn't fair at all, and adding torture to that really isn't, either. well i don't have to worry about disease as long as i keep eating instant ramen |

They have investigated thoroughly into this. An investigator from the humane organization (I think it's organization) was undercover for quite some time video taping what occured. It's a shame they don't show everything on the media. Eventually the complete video will be up in the internet as seeing how everthing is. Ps. Ramen is awesome!

Re: Cow Abuse
Is it true they put the nastiest parts of meat in hot dogs? I heard that once and have since then avoided them as much as possible...which kind of makes me sad since I like them...
