Default R3 Settings Question

So I decided to try the R3 engine because the other ones lag like crazy. Now I know it may be different for everyone but what is a good number to have the offset at and does judge offset do anything? I've been playing around with it for quite some time now and it seems no matter what I do I can't get a good combo. My biggest problem is I can't get a offset where majority of my key taps are "Amazing." for instance if I play a song I know I can AAA with 1000 notes, it would probably end up looking like (or something very close to):

Amazing 100
Perfect 850
Good 50

I know I'm not the most accurate player on the site but clearly my offset is making me hit perfects way more than Amazing. Any suggestions as to what may be a good offset/judge offset to use?

Change the framerate to 60 if it's not at that already.

But an offset is going to be different for everyone. It's just something you have to experiment with to find the right one.

Play a song as accurately as you can and ignore the terrible PA. On the results screen, right-click the "Speed: ?x" line and it'll suggest a judge offset you should be using. Do that a few times to get something that should work out.

Holy shit I wish I knew about that before. That helps me out a lot.

I did that and it kind of made the arrows choppy, not lagging but they just looked weird and was hard to play. Maybe my computer just sucks lol

Question: when I do that i get two things

for example i played a song, right clicked then it said accuracy which was 0.402 then in brackets right after that it says [+/-0.524] which of those should I make the judge offset?

I feel you haha, 60 FPS is really strange when you've been at 30 for years

The first number is the one for the judge offset (0.402), the +- was how early or late your arrows were. If you graphed your key hits, most of them would be around 0.402 frames off, and the furthest points would be 0.524 away from the 0.402 line.

Agreed! lol I had such a hard time playing on 60, simply because my eyes couldn't adjust to how it looked.

And thanks! I will try that right now and see if it helps!

FYI at 30fps decimal offsets do nothing so 0.4 is the same as 0. You could try 1 then, but it seems to be suggesting you're closer to 0 than 1.

It's the standard deviation - so the lower it is the more accurate the judge suggestion is (and the more consistent you are at timing).
