Dance to me seems to cover a huge portion of the Electronic genre. I think trance falls under there, in which trance is extremely repetitive beyond belief.

Re: What's the Difference between Dance and Trance??
Pretty much what pureblood said, Dance is a broader genre including house, trance etc.
"[Trance is]A form of electronic music that has spiralled out from other forms such as techno and house. Essentially, trance combines a powerful "4-to-the-floor" ; (or occasionally breakbeat) drumtrack with a strong melodic hookline." |

Re: What's the Difference between Dance and Trance??
mostly trance gets you into a "trance" usually no singing and repetitive patters to keep you in a "trance"
dance is more... singing constant changes even if just slightly more of what you would see at a club at least as far as i kno >.<

Here's an example of Dance:
http://media.putfile.com/AAA-by-DJ-Amuro I don't have the guts to download any trance music, I'm keeping my computer free of that crap. Just look in Newgrounds for trance samples. |

This is trance - http://youtube.com/watch?v=Pc3yFlYlhCQ
ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Trance is some of the greatest music ever made. Trance is far from "crap". It is higher quality dance music. |

Re: What's the Difference between Dance and Trance??
It's repetitive and boring, atleast from the trance I've heard. I find other genres of electronic a lot more interesting. The songs I want are always changing in one form or another as they progress.

Re: What's the Difference between Dance and Trance??
Trance tends to be a slower, smoother sounding music also. It typically is not as fast paced as most "dance" music is. Trance also might have words in them but if it does, it will most likely be only a few words repeated in the background. Dance could include anything from a dj's remix of a mainstream song to a fast paced techno song completely made by them.

Trance also distiguished from techno from the mood of the music itself. Techno tends to be happy, while trance will have a "mystic" feeling (hard to explain with words).

Re: What's the Difference between Dance and Trance??
Dance is like: DO-tsh-DO-tsh-DO-tsh-DO-tsh-DO-tsh-DO-tsh-DO-tsh-DO-tsh.
and Trance is like: do-TSH-do-TSH-do-TSH-do-TSH-do-TSH-do-TSH-do-TSH-do-TSH. Dance is not a genre of music. Basically, dance is a generic term used to classify a large range of electronic music. It was created by corporate companies to sell records. Dance is anything that has a strong steady thumping bass beat that can easily be danced to. Trance has a strong steady thumping bass beat that can easily be danced to...therefore Trance could fall under the category dance. ps. http://www.di.fm/edmguide/edmguide.html Seriously. Check out that site. It's kind of ridiculous, but it gives you a good idea of all the subgenres of electronic music. Last edited by jewpinthethird; 05-26-2007 at 11:00 PM.. |
