Quitting smoking.
Has anyone else quit smoking before and just sweat LOADS at night, and i mean enough to have a wet tshirt or bed covers....
I have quit for 5 days now, and im tossing and tuning all night and sweating loads, and having a bad nights sleep. I smoked for 6 years prior to quitting if thats any use. EDIT: Also had a cold on friday....

I can't relate to this in any way, but I say you stay strong.

I'm a smoker still and I get that to be honest. Seriously sleep with a fan blasting right at you at night and see if that works. It has for me.

Yea it's normal to go through a lot of different crap. When i was trying to quit I'd even get weird dreams. But if you're 5 days in already keep it up man you're past the nicotine being in your system now it's all mental.

Why are you giving up, James?
I'm not sure, but it does soon like your body reacting to not having a fix, keep at it though! |

Re: Quitting smoking.
Lol, your body doesn't know what to do with the natural chemicals it produces. It's forgotten all about what they are and why they are there. Hahaha, gotta love withdrawals. Sure glad I never started.. anything really. ^^
Anyway grats on the stop. Cold shouldering is a bitch, I know cause I watched 4 older brothers do it and yeah, hot flashes are very common. There's 2 really good remedies for them though. 1. Being a good strong(hopefully silent too) fan blowing right on you. 2. You can put chill(ice) packs under the sheets of your bed, keeping your bed where you lay on a nice cool temperature... and yes this works. Just have to have the ice packs that are flat, thin, and flexible. I think they are more like freezable gel pads for exercising and stuff.

Re: Quitting smoking.
Do you mean cold turkey..(ing?)
Yeah, you're past the hump, but don't get me wrong, I've seen people break 2 weeks in before. Just think of how you're killing yourself every time you want a cigarette, grab a piece of chocolate. I think I read somewhere that chocolate (especially dark) triggers the pleasure center in the same way that smoking does, but it's not something that will give you lung cancer. This method works for a lot of people.

Re: Quitting smoking.
Good luck and keep up the good work with trying to quit. I wish I could stop being addicted to caffeine.

I have a friend who's been chain-smoking for about a year now, and he just can't quit. Then again he hasn't tried to very hard or tried using any products. I'd personally just cut down slowly over time then use a patch or something. |

I've actually questioned why they don't make it illegal though. I mean think about it they're known to cause all kinds of deadly illnesses and we all know it's bad for you. Now yea it can be said it's a personal choice but then why are drugs illegal? Why aren't they just a personal choice at least pot. Pot is pretty much no worse than having a drink. (I don't do it personally but still) Plus they're addicting so if your a teen and you pick one up not really thinking about the damage it can cause and you become hooked it's a bitch to come off. Hell there are kids that their parents smoke and they start sneeking cigs when they're like 9. And anyone can say oh well I know someone that quit it's not that hard. It varies from person to person you have to remember that. Not everyone's body reacts the same to the addiction. |

Re: Quitting smoking.
I didn't say it wasn't hard, I just said he needs to man up and do it. It's for his own good.
