Movies by the Coen brothers
This friend of mine told me I absolutely HAD to watch some movies by the Coen Brothers, like Fargo, The Big Lebowski,, No Country for Old Men, True Grit, and such. I had heard these titles before, but never ended up watching them. I was looking at the reviews of each one, and they all seem generally enjoyed!
Did any of you watch them? Which one is your favorite? In what order should I view them, if it even matters? Worth purchasing for many viewings? Last edited by MarioNintendo; 04-6-2013 at 12:49 PM.. |

On a serious note, please watch the Big Lebowski if you haven't already.
It's a film everyone should experience at least once in their lifetime. |

Raising Arizona is a good introduction to their work I'd figure. I watched it the other day and loved it from start to finish. It's eminently quotable and one of their most stylized. Plus Nicolas Cage is in it.
I'd recommend The Big Lebowski and No Country for Old Men as their best work although they are polar opposite in terms of mood. Fargo left me a bit cold and Burn after Reading is a bit rubbish honestly. |

Ugh, No Country for Old Men is such a blast. My favorite among all of their films. Some friend strongly recommended me to listen to O' Brother Where Art Thou but I didn't have the chance to come across it, nor the time. But the premise looks interesting.
There's always the upcoming Inside Llewyn Davis that seems promising too and is highly anticipated. More information here: Wiki and Trailer |

No Country for Old Men is fantastic. O Brother Where Art Thou is FUCKING HILARIOUS. Big Lebowski is a cult classic (The Dude abides). I haven't seen Burn After Reading in a while, but I remember enjoying it... It was kind of 'out there' lol.
