So, I have gout.
In my left ankle. Kind of sucks and is painful.
Thought I just screwed my ankle again working so much+DDR.....guess not. Considering that it kind of affects your life I am taken aback by the news. Not the worst thing, but kind of crazy, ya'kno? Anyhow as per FFR Tradition I have to make a thread about it, so here it is. Sorry, Synth, we can't all be cool and use the front page |

Re: So, I have gout.
I don't know much about gout. What kind of treatment is there and is it curable?

Re: So, I have gout.
At least you have a semi-legit reason to play DDR with your hands, if that means anything. Also you can get handicap parkring decal if you're lucky.

Re: So, I have gout.
Oh wow, I know someone that has gout and they occasionally mention how it can sometimes get very uncomfortable at times. I hope your treatments go well and that it doesn't impact your life too much. Just keep strong, keep your head up, and don't use your gout as an excuse as to why you can't do well in life; people will respect you for being able to do what you do in spite of your condition. Best of luck to you man.

Re: So, I have gout.
Thanks guys.
The treatment is steroid pills it seems. And it isn't the worst case I've known off. Still going to play DDR once I get this under control and all that (which may be a awhile) . Pretty much, as long as it isn't inflaming I can go on as I've been....just got to eat healthy and cut out shellfish. Does hurt, but not as bad as people seem to think it should. Today I woke up and it was doing pretty damn sweet. Gonna take Alive here in a sec like my doctor said I should for swelling and enjoy my unexpected day off from work. |

Oh snap, that sucks. There are a couple things that can easen stuff and all, but for the rest I think you simply have to put up with it until your body has dealt with it appropiately.

Re: So, I have gout.
Yeah, that sucks a lot. Try and read all the newest studies about it, never know what your doctor might not know about it that some researcher has discovered.

Re: So, I have gout.
Twist your ankle 180 degrees and add swelling.
Actually, I was looking into it and I wonder if I've been diagnosed correctly. Seems my lifestyle has always been anti-gout friendly and yet I never have had an outbreak until the time I work almost 60 hours a week for two months and do alot of DDR. If you guys remember me from why back, I've always had problems twisting my ankles. Been bitchin' about it for as long as anyone cared to hear. I assumed I just hurt it again being so active. The doctor said it was gout and at first I was like "ok yeah, gout" But all my friends straight up google gang-banged the tar out of it and I have so much info....so much so, in fact, that I honestly think that clinic is full of ****. All I needed was a few days rest and some Aleve (I had been working 20 day weeks with just one day off between them at the store) now I'm on pills and diets and shit for what I suspect is garbage. What makes this worst is these pills make me sick, and steroids are not something you can stop taking cold turkey. I'm beside myself on how to handle this.... /rant |

Re: So, I have gout.
I'm thinking that's in order, just going to take me some time to get the money for it honestly. All the overtime I got went for my car (been walking everywhere for near 3 years; about the time I've been gone from FFR).
BTW My foot is back to normal and my last day on these pills is tomorrow. So whatever is wrong, the cure worked. Pretty happy about that at least |
