Happy Rainbow [47 or 48]
This song is quite fast. 200 bpm with max NPS of 17. that 17nps is at the end where you have 16th note JS. at 200 bpm this is quite fast for a 47. That speed even presents itself near the beginning, where we have a [13][2][1][2][14]. I switched to mirror cuz i couldn't get the speed right away to do that trill.
looking at other token songs, even Attack of 1 min (1 min long) has max NPS of 16. and that's rated a 49. To get to 17 NPS, we need to get to the 57s, where kakke ecko, P8107 and Heavy each have that. I recon a bump is needed, maybe even higher than 48, but you guys can discuss that.

Re: Happy Rainbow [47 or 48]
Approved.
Just looked at it. I agree with everything you said, and actually think it should probably be higher than 48. 51 seems like the best choice imo, making this a [Heavy] unlock in the process. 200bpm triples are pretty annoying to deal with at this level. The constant 8th jumpstreaming doesn't really let up at any point, and that ending is incredibly trolly (and might even warrant a bump further up?!) This should unlock [Heavy] at the very least, I'm fine with either 51 or 52. If this were a file just being added to the game, I'd probably be inclined to rate it a bit higher than that just due to the ending alone. But because this was a former 'uncontested' Challenging file (no one at any point really said this should be VC), I don't know how close this should be pushed towards that border. I'm sure there are a few players out there that would find this more difficult to AAA than something like dot death. Last edited by One Winged Angel; 01-20-2013 at 02:05 AM.. |

Re: Happy Rainbow [47 or 48]
Just looked at the file, I completely agree with what you and Rob said. The entire file is rather relentless for a file at this difficulty (triples, ending, 8th jumpstream) or anything that's over 49 even. I think this should be a [Heavy] unlock as well, wouldn't mind seeing this as a 51.

Agreed, the ending is a bit of a troll, requiring the same speed as some high 60s to nail...Destination of the Heart comes to mind. But this is nowhere near the old VC border, as Rob said. On that border exist songs like Legendary Etude, Torinouta, Rose and Forsaken Neon. (230 bpm left-hand trill...)
This isn't even as persistent as Rebirth's heavy file for SM. I'd go with 50, maybe 51 depending on how much you value difficulty spikes, but nothing higher than that.

Re: Happy Rainbow [47 or 48]
So i took another play at this song, and i felt with a SDG at that level that it was ok, considering i have trouble with songs in the low 50's. I wanted to find a way to talk it down, but I played a few 50's, and then a couple 51's and the plain fact is that 200 bpm is too fast for sub 50. However that ending really pushes it to a 52.

Re: Happy Rainbow [47 or 48]
Any more opinions on where this should end up? I'd like to place this higher if possible (at 52) but some of you guys are preferring 51.

Re: Happy Rainbow [47 or 48]
Despite being a brisk and constant file, I still think this is far too simple to be a 52 or even a 51. I would say 50 because it's overall pretty straightforward, and the ending is a bit of a spike, although it's only because there are 4th jumps in 16ths for pretty much one measure only.

Re: Happy Rainbow [47 or 48]
I have trouble believing that Happy Rainbow is harder than Can Can (Piano Version) (a 50). I'm perfectly fine with Happy Rainbow being boosted, just not past 50. Though, it's not a hill I'll die on.

totally different skill sets. Can Can is all about jump chains and jacks.

Perhaps a closer file match-up wise would be LUV TO ME 2011 (a 49). There's 32 rolls in the middle of jumpstream stuff. I don't see how Happy Rainbow is much harder than LUV TO ME 2011. Still I think 50 is sufficient for the rainbow. |

bump to see what other people think.
consensus seems to be either 50 or 51 w/ more votes for 51
