Idea I've been mulling over that I'd like some input on
I've been trying to think of a way to gimp alliances without removing the blue roles they're based on.
I think I have something relatively effective. It would be a standard game with seer, guardian, psychic, whatever. Completely normal. The special thing comes in that no one is allowed to tell anyone anything about their role whatsoever. In fact, they wouldn't even be allowed to tell that they're blue. The seer wouldn't be able to tell anyone that they're the seer. They wouldn't be able to tell anyone that they had seer'd someone. The best they would be allowed is to say something to the effect of "my gut tells me..." The guardian wouldn't be able to contact someone they saved and say "I'm the guardian." If they believe they're seer'd, they're not allowed to tell the person that they're the guardian. Psychic is a little different. They can say how many wolves are left, but they can't make it seem as though they KNOW how many there are. They also can't say they're the psychic. I'd also like to not have MW in such a game and bring back the framing. It seems like a more effective alliance gimp. The problem comes up that this would all be on the honor system. The only medium I could actually police would be the thread, so I'd have to be sure none of you losers would cheat. I'm also unsure of what reprecussions should come from cheating.

So, when a seer seers a human, the best he can do is say "I don't think he's a wolf, guys..."? And there's no stating you're human?

Restricting information flow isn't the way to gimp alliances, restricting information is.

Rather than not having the seer tell who he is, you could just have all that information posted publically. (I.E. the host would say who was seered and who was guarded.)
I've also thought about (in the case of the guardian and seer) that everyone sends in their "seer" choice and their "guard" choice, and a random person's choices are what is used. This way the roles are there but no one has absolute authority over it and therefore couldn't reveal himself as a seer or guardian. |

That's like giving the humans two chances to lynch a wolf each day.

Afro, the only problem here is, there is NO way to enforce this. At all.

No I didn't mean everyone voted for who to guard and who to seer.
I meant everyone would send in a seer report and who they would guard in a PM to the host and one random person's choices would be used. EDIT: nevermind I got what you said the second time I read it. |

Afro, I tried to come up with a way for this to work in TWG22. Whorli wanted to use the vigi, but as we know, it is a flawed role. So I tried to help her work it so that the vigi couldn't tell anyone he was the vigi. She got all confused, and it wasn't used in the game.
I'd imagine there was some discussion about it in the TWG22 signup thread if you wanted to look into it.

Having a no AIM, no PM game kind of has a similar effect. I like the idea of a no AIM, no PM (NANP) game because it makes sure that everything said is said publicly.
