fixing minor yellow note syndrome
Okay, so I have a few songs where sections are affected by the dreaded yellow note syndrome. However, the rest of the song is totally fine. Obviously, changing the gap will just screw up the rest of the song, so how do I fix this?
I'm guessing changing the BPM at that certain section, but by how much? |

First, make sure that your rhythms actually are right (See Night of Flight lol)
otherwise, stops. Don't forget, if might not be a constant song as well. Or maybe you have the BPM wrong. |

Re: fixing minor yellow note syndrome
If the song has the right BPM, but the beats are falling on yellow notes, then you simply have the gap wrong.
All you have to do is change the gap so the beat falls on a quarter note and then select all the steps, cut it, and paste it a sixteenth note higher. |

No, reread the thread. Most of the song is on-beat, but sections of it enter the yellow note syndrome. Applying a global fix will just mess up the rest of the song. So I was wondering how much I'd have to change the BPM by to use the same fix without messing up the rest of the song. |

Re: fixing minor yellow note syndrome
lol this reminds me of MSWGO with it's straight green section >.>
Relating your situation to that. Let's look at it, in MSWGO, there was 100% 64ths used and no notes between them, thus still working because 64ths are 4x 16ths. I'm no expert, but since you have straight yellow arrows, I'm guessing you have to reduce the BPM at those sections by 1/4 (example being 180 BPM song, lower it to 45 bpm and use quarter notes) I assume that could be one way to fix it.

Yeah, that would do it, but the BPM would be very wrong and the speed wouldn't match. I'll willing to cut and paste the notes up and down, it's how I fix music that has total yellow note syndrome. But there's got to be a way to make a minor BPM change... not a pause, that would screw up the rhythm, but a minor change in the BPM and then cut and paste at the appropiate spot. Would it help if I uploaded of the the few files in question? |

Re: fixing minor yellow note syndrome
Umm well I wouldn't be able to check them out. I'm at a friend's house on a computer with no SM. And, I don't trust Resonance. Though, you could also half the BPM instead of 1/4. Then use 8th. Not sure how it would work out.

Re: fixing minor yellow note syndrome
use stops.
If you want to shift arrows by 16th, set stop as 15,000/BPM (ms). |

Re: fixing minor yellow note syndrome
Wouldn't that create a noticeable pause in the gameplay, though?

Re: fixing minor yellow note syndrome
Not unless you use an xmod. Most people use cmods and won't notice that you put in a stop.

Re: fixing minor yellow note syndrome
It's not a big deal if you can find a decent place to put a pause.

Re: fixing minor yellow note syndrome
Chances are if you have colored note syndrome your BPM is wrong. If the song has a constant BPM and it feels right but then starts drifting you have the BPM wrong. But if you are positive that everything is right but the song shifts a 16th note, then you can use SM's built-in features to push the note where you want. If you want to push a 16th note later then you can select the 16th note prior to the one you want to shift and use "expand 2x" to have the yellow note land on the beat. If you want to move the yellow note back, select the 16th note prior to the one you want to shift and use "convert beats to pause" (note that if you want to shift it in the middle of a 16th run or something this method won't work).
