You want them to die on their own terms, right? So you're saying them getting shredded to pieces due to them not being able to move is on their own terms?

No animal in existence would do this, they would go hiding somewhere where it's safe, as that's what they're instinctively meant to do.

I'm still sad my cat was put down a few weeks ago, but I'm beyond anything else relieved that she's out of pain and not needing diabetes medication injected into her twice daily because that would be no quality of life for her.

I miss her, and wish she was here, but she'll always be a part of my family and my thoughts, and I'm fortunate that both her and I had so many good memories together.

I wouldn't change the decision that was made, given the context, in a million years.

I think you just have a misunderstanding on how animals actually work in the real world. It's definitely not sunshine and rainbows as the furry community would make you believe. The ecosystem exists for a reason and we so happen to be on the very top of the food chain since we're the only species on this planet that has shown to be sentient.

Believe me, if there were multiple different species on this planet that could talk, get jobs, make friends, ect like you and me, this would probably be a completely different topic.

Let’s just say I’ve had some experiences with very smart and very nice dogs. I know birds aren’t bright often, hence the insult “birdbrain”, no offense meant towards you btw.

I let this get wayyy too out of hand. I took a long nap, and I come back to shit I never th ought I would’ve typed. I’m confused. I feel like my life has become a modern day retelling of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde. Like fuck, I didn’t know fluctuations of this capacity could happen.

I’m for sure telling my provider about this so we can get this worked out, and I’m also trying to look for a job so I can get a therapist. I can’t live like this…

I don't mean to continue this, but seeing a dog act smart doesn't mean it's smart enough to make a decision.

Dogs have shown to show they can understand different objects and different meanings of said objects, yes.

Does it mean they're smart enough to think for themselves that's not directed by instinct?

I certainly hope that I feel better too, I WANT to improve. Just sometimes life makes it really hard with bad circumstances and such.
