Increasing download speed?
Well, I have horrible downloading speed, it starts off at almost 2MB a second, but then in just a second it goes to about 1, and just keeps decreasing til it gets to about 20 kb a second, and plus I'm using vista if that would help. I found one site to increase it, but that's how I got it to 2MB in the first place. Could anyone help?

Re: Increasing download speed?
download speed is dependent on a few things. One is your speed and the other is what the site will allow.
Where are you trying to download from? |

Re: Increasing download speed?
Front-loaded speed is normal. I highly doubt you are truly capable of downloading at a constant 2MB/s.
Regardless, it's true that you will download slower from certain places that throttle back the speed, so just ignore it. |

Re: Increasing download speed?
Just tried to download it myself.
It starts off slow, but then it stays over 700 KB/s. Odd.

Re: Increasing download speed?
Site is downloading at 800 kb/s for me. Maybe you have port issues or firewall issues.
Edit: Maybe you have run out of your monthly bandwidth. Not sure how that works. |

Re: Increasing download speed?
800 kb here.
You can't really speed up your internet through a browser, unless you havent forwarded ports and things like that. You could try downloading some of the tweak programs, they can fiddle with your tcp/ip settings for you. |

Re: Increasing download speed?
All depends on where the download is from.
It can be from god knows where and take forever, then other times it can be right next door and take no time at all. That and ISP can make a big difference.

Add me on Perfect World, ya homo (Zurenriri)
Also, a lot of their servers are in Asia somewhere, so slow speed is to be expected.

Re: Increasing download speed?
Are you serious?
For me, I'm using AOL 6MBps, I live in an area that has quite slow internet, so I get 3.5mb-5mb IF THAT. Plus I live in Britain, so I get a high latency connection to American peers. HTTP/FTP Downloads usually go fast, European servers I get 600kb/ps which is the fastest I've ever noted my connection to go American servers, 300kb/ps. Using a Peer-Peer P2P Program It goes very slow, usually 60kb/ps connecting to american peers is good for me, but it has gone up to 600kb/ps, if it's seeded by british people which is unlikely. Mass-Seeded TV Shows like Family Guy go about 300kb/ps. My friend who uses his Uni Connection, downloads at around 3mb/ps HTTP and gets around that on P2P programs. |

Re: Increasing download speed?
I downloaded PWI @ ~650kb/s so it took less than 20 minutes. Then again, I used the BitTorrent link on their site. Muuuuch faster.
