Re: Weed being legalized in Canada.
They better tax the hell out of it. In British Columbia, the largest industry is, believe it or not, Marijuana. It produces billions of dollars in dope every year just in that province. Imagine if even a small portion of that was taxes, how much money could be passed around for cost of living which has become unbearable. Milk here is 7$ per gallon. I mean come on.
Weed would become a very profitable business for national services. Though just like the prostitution laws, Harper will simply make a new policy. Don't get your hopes up so soon Last edited by Duplica; 04-18-2011 at 08:02 PM.. |

Re: Weed being legalized in Canada.
Varies from one province to another, but right now legal medical Marijuana use is just a massive mess and incredibly inefficient. When I went to New-Brunswick, you only got arrested for possession if you had more than one bag or a really large amount (you'd get arrested for dealing suspicion). Otherwise they just take it away from you and you get fined. You can't get a criminal record for your own personal recreational use.

Re: Weed being legalized in Canada.
Probably, I just wasn't exactly sure if it was any different out west and such.
As far as growing goes, it's completely forbidden unless you have some sort of crazy license and working under heavy government supervision. It's so easy to grow it yourself though if you're just growing for yourself there isn't much of a chance of them busting you for much lol. |

Re: Weed being legalized in Canada.
Nope, in Ontario it's a criminal offense to possess any amount of marijuana unless you have a medical license. You will at least get a criminal record unless you're offered the diversion program (community service) by the crown attorney. Trust me I know this first hand lol. I really hope weed gets legalized T_T I'm sick of having to drive for an hour to get magic cookies.

Re: Weed being legalized in Canada.
Here is a news link for anyone who doesn't want to soil their history. http://montreal.ctv.ca/servlet/an/lo...b=MontrealHome
Personally I think the ruling in this particular context is nonsense, but I haven't admit that American drug law is quite different from Canadian drug law. Still, what's read into the story is this: People who believe marijuana is the most effective medical treatment can't get marijuana when their doctors won't prescribe it to them, presumably because of red tape and over-regulation thus forcing patients to resort to illegal methods. I'm sorry, but for any other drug if a doctor didn't give you pills and you resorted to illegal methods to get it, people would call you an addict.

Yeah, saw this. Deemed unconstitutional by the judge... but I know the government will fix it with one day to spare. That's what they always do.
