Sort of a brag, but it's not FFR-related
I finally beat the computer at StarCraft!
Hear me out. I know the computer is supposed to be half-assed, but what happened is this. I decided to try a three-person map (Triumvirate) for lulz, and I soon realized that to get out of my home base, I needed to fly myself out of there. So eventually I did, and I got lucky because the computer found itself first, and the Zerg were quickly eliminated. Then it was a long grind of resource gathering, successful and failed nuclear strike attempts (the key is to have multiple Ghosts trigger it at the same time...that way it takes them longer to figure out who called it in and take him out before the bomb gets dropped) and Yamato Gun fun. After 2 hours or so, it was finally over and featured groups of four Goliaths going commando and taking out structures all by themselves (there weren't as many Photon Cannons as I was expecting) and just dropping ground units into a foothold and letting them go at it. Terran beats Protoss...this time. Now I need my brother to figure out where he put the CD Key for the Brood War disc... |

Hehe, once you let the comp build up it can sometimes be difficult. Good effective way to beat them is to have a good steady stream of attacks on them so they cant build to tier 3.

Beating Starcraft computers is easy. Try fighting 7 vs 1, Zerg and Protoss vs protoss. x.x Takes HOURS.

I suck against the Starcraft computers. Certain campaigns even screw me over. The only way I can beat a computer is if I'm 1v1 and I Cannon Rush. Zerg rush doesn't even work for me.

Re: Sort of a brag, but it's not FFR-related
I suck at every -craft game. D=
But I can beat the computers, especially on air maps. Unless something has changed since I last played, air maps reduce the AI from decent to **** every time.

Re: Sort of a brag, but it's not FFR-related
lol I beat 7v1 computers all the time.
Here's a hint. 1. use protoss 2. build a pylon at the nearest bottlenecks. 3. build a forge. 4. spam photon cannons around the bottlenecks. 5. computers notice a surge of power by their opponent and cease to function. 6. build ~12 zealots and take out each computer for a cool 1 hour victory. or... 1. use zerg 2. use mega leet skills and make 12 zerglings in <2minutes 3. continue building zerglings and beat the living **** out of the computers one by one. |

Re: Sort of a brag, but it's not FFR-related
Depends on your setup.
For example, I'm a Zerg player [and being Korean really doesn't make you good, only if you played Starcraft since you were like 5, which just happens to be a lot of Koreans, but not me.] Anyways, it all depends on map/strategy. For example, are you going to going for 9 drone or 12 drone? Front yard Hatchery first or fast gas? Lurkers first or Mutalisks? The thing I like to do a lot, when Zerg VS Terran, is try to rush with Lurkers. It's like, win or lose. [Since you'd have to scout, and if you don't get a good guess, or knowledgeable guess at their location, you'd have a hard time.] Or.. Protoss can be useful with cannons. But usually, when it's Protoss VS Zerg, Zerg players tend to go defensive, and they will not try to rush you, since 3 Zealots vs 12 Lings = Zealots win, since most players send Zerglings in a straight line, and that makes it easy for Zealots to wipe them out. And Protoss just has fun with High Templars. 3 Templars VS 3 Dozen+ Wave of Zerglings = Templars win. One way you can win against Protoss using Zerg is massing air units. A lot of newer, or less experienced players do not know how to use Scouts/Corsairs effectively. So they just pump out Dragoons, Zealots, and sometimes Arbiters for a Recall. If you can mass air units effectively, you can combine them with Hydras/Zerglings to easily overtake ground units. Now, when you are in a big battle (4 dozen+ units), you NEED defilers. Use their dark swarm to their fullest limit. It'll be PRICELESS. Now, Terran is a balanced race, not really TOO good. But, you can make very good use of their 1) Medics 2) Firebats 3) Siege Tanks. Yes, Siege Tanks are VERY useful for plowing through Cannons/Sunkens when there someone spammed them. Of course as mentioned above, they say, "Spam cannons near forks ecetera," what most players will do is build those cannons, but not really pay attention to them that much. They will not have a lot of protection besides the cannons itself. So, Siege Tanks can take those cannons/sunkens out, or if it's backed up, combine with buffed up Marines/Medics against 1-2 dozen mobs. Firebats+Medics are great for mobbing against Zerg players. Sometimes, there are crazy people who try to rush you with an insane amount of Zerglings/Hydras. Now, all you have to do is take some Firebats (preferably 4-5), and Medics (3-4). Back the medics up behind the Firebats against a wall (so they cant attack you from the back), and shoot those flamethrowers away! Firebats do splash damage, so they will take out 3+ dozen zerglings easily with medics. And for Terran VS Protoss, you can also make very good use of EMP wave to get rid of shields for stronger units such as a mob of Carriers / such. Now for Protoss, I'd have to say, you'd have to know how to balance your resources. Protoss is very strong, but also very costly. What I love about Protoss, is its air units. Scouts/Corsairs are very effective for taking out other air units (especially Zerg), and their Disruption is VERY VERY effective for temporarily disabling the use of ground structures that attack. High Templars also can take out dozens of Zerg units at a time, and personally, I think Carriers are a waste. Recall by Arbiters, one of the most dangerous/greatest skills to risk using. Recall, what it does, is teleport massive amounts of units from your base to anywhere you want. This can be used in tactical situations where you combine Hallucination + Arbiters. So.. 2 arbiters + hallucination = 4+ arbiters. Go around their main defense force, Recall on their main base. Take out the SCVs with a High Templar before doing so, and while the opponent is busy remaking SCVs, getting things together for an attack, Arbiter+Recall. Destroy, cause chaos (but your units better be upgraded thought.) Reavers+Shuttle+Macro=Win. Use reavers, and shuttles, to quickly drop reavers, shoot one or two at works, boom, you've just wiped out 8+ workers. Repeat whenever possible, Or you can do this with High Templars. Anyways, whew I've had enough Starcraft talk for today. :]] |

Re: Sort of a brag, but it's not FFR-related
Depends on the map...
If you play fastest map then 7v1 comp is easy. Cannon the choke make 2 nexuses in back to mass probes more cannons Go carriers while massing cannons. Once you max on cars you win. GG If its non$ then 7v1 comp isn't possible. I don't think anyways. Its been like a year since I've played. I forget =\ |

No Brood War yet (so no Medics), but thanks for the tips. Currently stuck on Terran Mission 3 since I don't quite yet know how to turtle effectively. I have a feeling it involves massive amounts of Bunkers and Marines, though.

Re: Sort of a brag, but it's not FFR-related
I believe Starcraft 1 is much more easier/deep to play with..
Starcraft 2 with its beautiful graphics is focused on graphics.. not the intensity/depth of gameplay I believe. Simple games are actually the best sometimes. ;] |
