I feel like

"Being able to get pianocore on x2 cheapens it"

needs to answer to

"Having gotten pianocore 1000 songs ago cheapens it"

I dunno, I guess I just don't get this considering that the game the popularized rates didn't record scores at all, so why should this be true.

If it's actually a shared opinion then I guess it doesn't matter too much.

Just echoing again that all I really want from rates scores is for them to save the score as if it was a 1.0 score when it is higher than 1.0. If it is lower than 1.0, then ok, no deal.

If the argument is about Tokens then hahahahah

man lol i worked hard for a long time playing every song on 1.0 to get my avg rank down and to unlock certain tokens so a part of me wants others to have to put in that same effort/time. but i can definitely understand where you guys are coming from. either way i play on flash 9 so rates are always gonna be at 1.0 for me

Saying allowing higher rates would cheapen the achievement of getting PianoCore/Game Genie/whatever isn't a good argument. Even with higher rates, it's still going to take a long time to play every song, particularly if you're going for AAAs, and I wouldn't exactly call slogging through that endless queue of 4-minute-long snoozefest low-level rock songs "character building".

There are maybe 20 songs of difficulty <70 I haven't AAA'd, and that's a project I've chipped away at off and on for a couple of years, never spending too much time on in one sitting so I wouldn't burn myself out or start to find it unenjoyable. Allowing higher rates would preserve the spirit of the endeavor while letting everyone pick their own pace at which to go through it, and allowing the purists to play everything at 1.0 still.

I'm all for this and similar ideas that bring old players back and keep current ones interested in the game

not to mention yeah I can't see this actually making files any /easier/ outside of a couple. If necessary I can't imagine it'd be too hard to create a very limited list of these exceptions that can't be "rated". "Rating" would be an advanced enough feature that the added complexity (of the player having to check the forums or read some post that says which songs can't be "rated") wouldn't confuse a new user (like we have any more of these anyway)

It's too quiet right now to start worrying about the iNtEgRitY oF mUh PiAnOCoRe ToKeN, to which devonin raises a very good question mark anyway

let's do it

edit: if it helps you naysayers, pretend it's a game mod like drunk or tornado or something

the entire argument against this is the reason id use it lol, not gonna lie

"its tedious to AAA all the easy ass files that are 3 mins long but have 50 notes so u might as well play them on 3.0x"

theres honestly no other benefit to it recording other than this. if ur going for high rank, then its not like ur gonna suddenly 1.1x a level 100+ song lol, so its irrelevant for that

I think it's actually pretty dubious that it'd increase game interest but I'm not super invested in shooting this down.

Was looking to get back into FFR but honestly I've lost my drive to come back into working on my av rank specifically for the reason of the time investment. This would help change that.
