KeyBoard Ultimix: Now Accepting!
KeyBoard Ultimix (or KBU for short) is a spin-off series of the Dancing Stage Ultimix (DSU) series, that has reached it's 3rd. So this time I wanted to try something new, something different. Something that will be more fun for people without USB pads.
Something for the keyboarders. And what better way to start this by posting it on FFR? FFR is THE place for fun KeyBoard sims, so I will be scouring the database for some songs and hunting around for whatever I can find. We do have some rules though, but we always take things easy over here at Ultimix. In theory all you have to make are a set of Heavy steps for any song: we have dedicated graphics artists, synchers, judges and all sorts. In fact this is the first Ultimix where I have decided to have a 'tea,' as such, all to make it less stressful for you. The team are: Graphics Detach SulferDragon (?) KyahRyorin Super_Ray Synchers Ramengan joel stud (minor tweaking if necessary) Ben Speirs (minor tweaking if necessary) Judges joel stud SulferDragon Ben Speirs But what do YOU have to do to ensure a solid file? Basic Criteria Songs should be in MP3. OGGs are NOT allowed, but we do have converters if this is a problem. You MUST include a CD-Title and your name MUST be in the line "#CREDIT:" in the .sm file. Obviously, do not steal anyone else's work. I would really like to see some exclusives here, and since you only really need one chart, I would love to have more exclusives than regurlar files... Song Criteria Songs should be less than 2:30, but if any longer ones are fun we will definately accept! Don't over or understep. If the song doesn't sound like a 14, make it a 10. BE ON BEAT! Don't use notes like 32nds, 64ths unless they are actually to the beat, and even then that must be one SLOW BPM. Submission Judging will be harder this year in hope we can get some truly great sims in here. But that's not to say we are going to be the new Simon Cowell of Stepmania, no. If your sim needs some work we will clearly point out what is wrong with it and give you another chance to fix it. After it has been returned 3 times we will no longer accept it, as this wastes too much time for our judges. DO NOT be put down if we reject it, if it's a minor thing I may go into the .sm itself and fix it if possible. The submission cap is 10 files per user. We will judge each batch every week and post our results ASAP. But where do you send it? teamultimix@hotmail.co.uk OR kbultimix@gmail.com. I will make this ESPECIALLY for receiving sims, VIA email. Oh, and in the email please try and attach it to the email itself and not have a link to Rapidshare, as this wasted more time and the whole waiting thing gets tedious, but if you have NO other option please use MegaUpload. So without furthur ado, I present KeyBoard Ultimix! Last edited by BEN.(SPEIRS) 7.5; 09-30-2007 at 06:44 AM.. |

Re: KeyBoard Ultimix: Now Accepting!
Batch 4 Jam and Marmalade Heavy: + Really enjoyed it, and loved how the big beats were triples! Nice! Ay Carumba!! Heavy: +? The slow section should've had less steps. Otherwise fine! BB Euro Heavy: -? Offbeat like, EVERYWHERE Maybe it's just my PC? Something is terribly wrong here... BOUFF Heavy: + Absolutely loved it. The jumps were so much fun and on-sync. Definate yes! CaptivAte ~Sabaki~ Heavy: + Loved the song, loved the steps. A nice difficulty, and some well placed jumps. Cipher Admin Battle Heavy: +? It was cool, if a bit long. And you did a good job fixing the sync, so props to that. Piano Concerto No.4 Vivace Oni: +? I can't tell the sync that well because the song is far too quiet and if I turn it up any louder than my parents will spaz, so it's up to the other judges. I can tell a lot of hard work and effort went into this though, so well done! Darkmoon Rave Heavy: + Really liked it! The obscure rhythms were fun to step to, and the beginning caught me off guard you git. Well done! Delta Beat Heavy: + moches, this is your best file yet! I loved every second of it! FF3 (Rock Mix) Standard: + Heavy: + Oni: + Loved all 3 difficulties! The sync may need a sliiight adjustment though, but that's ok. Gargoyle Heavy: + Absolutely loved it - one of my favourite files so far. I thought it would get repetitive but no, you made sure it wasn't, and I applaud you for it! I.S.D.K Heavy: + Haha that was so fun and random. Oni: ? Felt like it was hard just for the sake of being hard... I would much rather just keep heavy =) Insaner (L.E.D. Punishment Mix) Standard: + Heavy: + Love love loved it! It was quite challenging but yet retained that fun factor. Great work! Kick Your A Heavy: + It was fantastic, if similiar to the FFR version, but it's still really fun. Definate plus. Stupid MF Heavy: +? Difficulty was inconsistent, but it was fun. Maybe make some parts harder or the harder parts easier? Up to you. Mute City Remix Heavy: +? Hard. Maybe a bit too difficult? Loved the ending! Namiki Heavy: + I really enjoyed this! At first I thought it was far too easy, but things soon picked up! Nice, easier file =D Piece of the World Heavy: + One of my favourites from KBU already! Loved the song, loved the steps.. God it was just brilliant! Procrastination on a Paper Heavy: + Pitch relevantness is excellent! Really liked the song, and sounded like something from IIDX? Great nevertheless! Quickening Heavy: + Now this is not at all what I expected! To be honest, I thought this would be terrible because it doesn't sound like it'd be at all difficult - yet again you've proved me wrong! Really fun! rottel-da-station Heavy: + Wow, now that WAS hard. 32nds?! It's like FAXX with 16ths! Anyway it was still awesome, despite the terrible song! Sepia -trance mix- Heavy: + That was amazing. I really liked the song and the slowdown just screamed EPIC. Brilliant. Spinning With You Heavy: + Cool! I liked how you transitioned from the main melody and the background noise! And well placed jumps means win! Mystic Mansion (Sonic Heroes) Heavy: +? Some jumps made no sense... in fact MOST jumps didn't make sense. It also doesn't scream STEP ME... maybe an edit for pad would be better? Super Nova Heavy: + OMG I LOVE YOU. You synched it for me =) Steps were cool and very fun! And it got pretty hectiv near the end! That is Fair Heavy: + Some of those rolls were just too hard! But... I like them... it would make an awesome extra stage =P Last edited by BEN.(SPEIRS) 7.5; 11-4-2007 at 01:30 PM.. |

Re: KeyBoard Ultimix: Now Accepting!
Anything Ive ever releases on FFR's SimDB, BMS, or ZiV are allowed in any pack so long as my CDTITLE stays and the sim isnt changed (other then slight syncing). Ya go help yourselves. I have the most at BMS at this time. I recomend Holy Orders, Every Time we Touch, Poison, Xepher, X-Treme, and Ryu's Theme V2.
Pssssstttt...If Sulfer or Ben wants to AIM me, I got some releashed stuff Ive been saving for pacts. Get to me and I'll hook ya up. Sending stuff by email is a pain for me to do, but I'll send one over there just to show off my work PS oh and Baby's Tears Oni is fun Last edited by MixMasterLar; 09-5-2007 at 02:01 PM.. |

You can use Stepmania's own Stepeditor to make stepcharts. Here is a FAQ to get you started: http://z6.invisionfree.com/Dome/index.php?showtopic=239 |

Re: KeyBoard Ultimix: Now Accepting!
I made a stepfile, but I exported it to a .smzip . Does anybody know how to just export your stepfile into a regular .zip file? Thanks this would make submitting to both FFR, and here a lot easier! lol

Re: KeyBoard Ultimix: Now Accepting!
Take the smzip, and change the extension to .zip. I have my comp were I can click "rename" and do it, but some comps have it to were you need to re-save it.
