hands on or off the keyboard?
right now I'm trying to keep my wrists off the keyboard while I play. I am hoping that I can get more speed this way. Is this how most of you sub 9 average rank (or capable of) players play?

Re: hands on or off the keyboard?
I play on the arrow keys so I keep my wrists rested on my desk.
EDIT: Also have my arms rested on a pull-out drawer in my desk. Last edited by reptile3141; 02-26-2009 at 07:31 PM.. |

Re: hands on or off the keyboard?
Numpad user here. I rest my arms on the desk with my wrists on the keyboard, unless I am jacking. Then I'm off. But I also have 22 keys removed from my keyboard.

Re: hands on or off the keyboard?
Usually keeping your hands on the keyboard works so you can actually press the keys

I keep my hands on the keyboard so that way I can actually hit the arrows.

Wrist off the KB. Unless I'm on a laptop.

Re: hands on or off the keyboard?
i have my keyboard fairly fair away from me, and i rest my arm on the desk with only my fingers on the keyboard, so basically from my elbow down, is what i keep on the desk, using my fingers to do AS KL

Re: hands on or off the keyboard?
i rest mine but all the best speed players tend to have their hands raised from what i've seen. i tried it and got pretty severe wrist pains after about 5 songs so i stopped

Re: hands on or off the keyboard?
I keep my left hand kept on the keyboard, and my right hand off.
Probably why I can only pass songs with way more up/right jacks than left/down jacks. But I have way better control on 260 bpm+ stream with my left hand, and usually get more goods/boos with my right.

Re: hands on or off the keyboard?
Always lay your hands/wrists on the keyboard or on the desk or else you might get injured. That way of playing is more likely to increase the chances of getting tendinitis or carpal tunnel

Re: hands on or off the keyboard?
Yeah, this seems to be what's up. If you want to go fast (and we're talking probably faster than you'll need to go for 99% of the stuff in FFR), raise your wrists. It can be painful though. I play like this naturally, but my wrists get sore after a while. Actually my wrists get sore from like one game of Vertex BETA haha.

Re: hands on or off the keyboard?
I keep them down when I'm playing for fun. Raise 'em when I'm playing more competitively.

Re: hands on or off the keyboard?
down. ive never tried raising them. i have some problems with my left wrist due to fracturing it and not being able to get it treated. it did not heal correctly and it bothers me after too much use.

Re: hands on or off the keyboard?
When I want good PA, I play with them off the desk. But, my wrists get sore much quicker than if they were resting on the desk. So, basically it depends what you want, good stamina or good PA.

Re: hands on or off the keyboard?
Depends on style: One handed and Index not at all. Spread: Very much, it kills my wrists faster if i keep them up.
