@Kiwi:

Really? I had a real hard time getting into Dragon Warrior I. I bought it because it's the father of all RPG, but having to press A to pick stairs when standing on stairs just is an example of things I find rough about the game. Quite honestly, I never played DWII and I think I recall playing DWIII on my friend's game boy color (the beginning of the game is like a maze where it tells you about your personality based on what trap you fall (edit: I actually thought that was freaking brilliant, but I was also 7 at the time and Zelda was the closest thing I played to an actual RPG)). It's easier for me to get behind FF1 than DW1, to tell the truth, and that's why I never really approached the latter.

Tell me what I'm missing, though. I'd gladly emulate it just quickly to know what it's all about.

DWI was pretty clunky haha, I absolutely see how you could be turned off from the series. The improvements they made upon the game are enormous though. Everyone I know who has played DWIII enjoy it far more than the early FF's. Please play it!

I would say that dragon warrior, especially from 5/6 onwards, are better than FF. (and by that I mean ff 7 onwards.)

1 was a hassle, true, but it was worth it, dammit.

I have Tales of Destiny 2 i.e. Eternia, but goddamnit I want to play the real one, so I can shed man tears when Stahn is revealed to have died.

Am I the only one who thinks that Tales of Destiny is probably the best Tales to date? It might be because it was the first I played, but goddamn that game was amazing.

Saw Xenogears at a CGX here for 50 bucks.

Also saw Vandal Hearts, was intensely interested. Couldnt make up my mind so thinking on it.

Looking at the repro games, there's no way I'd pay 95 dollars for that if it's someone else putting the rom on a cart.

They don't make Xenogears, do they?... I'm confused. Why pay 100 bucks for a repro of a game worth less? lol

All of those are games that were fan translated. I also saw a few things that looked like fanfic translations, "cleaning up" things.

Because people are dum.

Gonna bump with a couple new photos I took, both new and old stuff I had laying around

^ At last, I finally got the box and the manual for Atomic Runner, the game that got me into gaming and that not enough people know about. Isn't that artwork cool?! Better than the cartridge, for sure. rofl!

^ Actually the best RPG I ever played.

there are tons of games I want that are either jp rpgs that need translation or satellite only download games (sateliteview for snes had exclusive games such as the direct sequal to chrono trigger aka radical dreamers) and would like them on repro carts, but they're usually 60$. I got romancing saga in english on an snes ntsc cart and it works beautifully. want to do that with fire emblem and some other games, but rip wallet.

I remember Japan used to have it so that you'd plug the cartridge into a slot at the game store and download the game onto the cart. Wish I had something like that available, that'd be sweet, since you can get 5 billion john madden games for like a buck total.

Sadly had yo go to ebay for this one. Couldnt wait any longer. :'( It's missing the manual, too, but for the price I paid, especially considering this is 2012 and eveyrone wants that game, I can say it was pretty fair.

A game that should be on your wish list regardless if you have a Sega Saturn or not is Panzer Dragoon Saga.

One of the RAREST games of all time, some copies selling on ebay as of late of upwards to $300 dollars (US currency)

i've been in the same boat. recently picked up Mega Man & Bass via that TimeWalkerGames site someone mentioned in the thread, game is beautiful in terms of gameplay. I don't feel any delays in inputs, but $65 is a huge price to be paying for a load of repro carts
