AVP Movie

I've put ALOT of thinking into how this movie is gonna turn out, based on what I have seen about it (aka analyzing all the trailers and stuff)

It would be very easy for me to say that the movie will suck, but often people forget that it may actually rock.

Here's a few downpoints and counters I have to them.

(A) It's rated PG13. This means destroying quite a few hallmark traditions:

Aliens - Violent, convulsive, bloody death as a chestburster rips through its host's ribcage.
Predator - Skins its victims and leaves them hanging (in both movies, good guys followed a path of fresh blood to discover the corpses). Keeps the skulls as trophies.
Also gone will be any sailor language like "Game over man, game over! What are we gonna do now? We're ****ed! We're in some pretty **** now, man!" and "You are one... ugly mother****er."

However, it does not mean that the movie will suck. True, there may not be chestburster scene, but that doesnt mean it wont happen. It can happen offscreen. And it doesnt mean that threre wont be gore, either. There just wont be that much Human gore. My guess is that there will be tons of gore coming from the xenomorph and predator.

Also, keep in mind, rating standards have been changed quite a bit. You never know what you can get away with.

B) Alot of fans are pissed off about the crap about the new weapons like the extended claws and the shuriken. But they are forgetting. The predators have been shown to be a clan-based species, so weaponry is likely to vary between clans. Also, we've only ever seen them hunt after Humans so far, it makes sense they'd come equiped differently when facing Aliens. Also, my memory might be a little fuzzy, but I don't recall the Predator in Predator 1 having that extendable lance, or an explosive fired net. My god, you mean they added weapons in? OH NOES!

C) They changed some of the stuff (this is kinda like B)! They've screwed it's origins! But then again, look at Lord of the Rings. Peter Jackson changed stuff, and it worked beautifully.

Anyways, however the movie turns out, judge it as a MOVIE. Don't compare it to the video games of the comics or the books or whatever. It's a movie.
I dunno about you guys, but I will be seeing it. It may suck, but hey, it's better to have seen a crappy movie for $10 than to never know for yourself if it was good or not.

I personally haven't read any of the other media, therefore since I am a diehard SF fan, you bet I'm going to see this. I don't care about blood and gore; the special effects and action are what make any SF movie memorable, and you know there's gonna be plenty in AVP. This looks so cool, I can't wait =D
