Stuff from your childhood that is totally different now that you're older
self explanatory
Anyone ever watch the Brave Little Toaster? I watched this when I was super young -- probably didn't understand 95+% of what was going on at all. Looking back at this scene now, holy crap -- this scene is incredibly dark. O.O;;;;; |

Did you see the AMA on reddit? Totally awesome. Loved the movie as a child as well.
Some of my favorite video games as a child are just unplayable to me nowadays. Brave Little Toaster definitely changed me though. I can actually "feel" for inanimate objects. Like it actually makes me feel a bit sad when something breaks.

Stuff changes as in they remake it later on and it's totally different from the original? Yeah, all the time.
Or do you mean the original stuff but you feel differently about it now? If you mean the latter, I used to like Sonic the Hedgehog games, but now I find most of them very boring. There's only so much you can do with a character whose only abilities are "jumps" and "runs 'real' fast". I'll say the games have excellent music and decent boss battles ... but the entire rest of the games are filler to me, now. The levels are overly-long. Chaos emerald collection usually borders on the tedious. |

I'd have to go with Pokemon as a case study myself. From sharing a cartridge with my brother in the days of Red/Blue, it was just simple, cute monsters with a competitive streak. Flash forward 15 years, and suddenly Team Rocket is revealed to be made up of individuals that make a living out of kidnapping a kid's best friends, exploiting them for profit, and presumably killed when they are of no further use. They aren't the Mafia--they're the Nazi Party. O_O |

best nostalgia moment of my childhood. jumping from one piece of furniture to another. throwing around pillows to get from one place to another. i know this is a little off direction, but this is what popped into my head immediately~

Oh man, I remember Brave Little Toaster. I've watched that quite a lot when I was little.
Yeah, looking back on things in your childhood such as movies will have you feel so much differently about them, even understand them better. I remember Disney's 'Robin Hood'. I haven't paid attention or understood about 15-20% of the lines said. Truly, nostalgic moments.

I forgot about those tents.
Rocko, Ren and Stimpy, a lot of different cartoons that I watched as a kid, I get the other meanings now and makes it even more enjoyable. |

Rugrats, Hey Arnold, other 90's cartoons. The jokes and witty remarks that characters make now make sense and I can appreciate. Disney movies I can catch the symbolism in now, whether that is due solely to age or literature classes whose methods carry over well into movie analysis.
I thought it was appropriate that one of the cars in that Brave Little Toaster snippet said, "I took a man to a graveyard." Very dark indeed. -o24

Re: Stuff from your childhood that is totally different now that you're older
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
And for me, Math Heads. Before it was a silly game with some math shortcuts. However, later on when I looked for the songs used in that game, finally finding them and listening to them again just felt incredible (such as Take Me Higher and Sara's Scar). I whored that game excessively when I was younger. Also Spirited Away. Not going into this. Basically I really dislike it now. |
