This sounds great to me tbh. I really don't like how people get on my case for having a "low" post count even though most of my posts are larger posts with lots of content. Then people who just go around spamming one liners are considered more active than me? Fuck that tbh

I really don't see how this could be an issue when the cap is lifted at eod.

pretty much that, theres times when i look at postcounts and can be like "wait what why does xyz have 200 more posts than me i remember nothing theyve done" and i think it may be more of a symptom of that post spammy problem

and in another case, who are we to say "you need to change your posting style to fit ffr twg"

i think if people are aware that seeing 6 posts of one liners in a row make others (me included) kinda gloss over and miss interactions then ok i guess. minimum posts is a necessary thing because that kind of play is like real bad for a given twg game going on

In the last game Soundwave had 592 posts and lived through what, 5 day phases? So our top poster from the 2nd longest game in history averaged 118 posts per phase.

200 seems high enough that it will basically never be reached except by somebody aggressively spamming. Though if there continue being 72 hour day 1 phases, that is the one phase that seems in danger of people hitting caps, but I also think 72 hour day 1 is a horrible idea.

I'd be interested to see, though good lord do I have no intention of doing it, who actually had the highest wordcount in that last game, because I think there's an above average chance it was me, despite being in 5th for postcount, and lasting the most days of all the top posters.

You absolutely put in the time to earn that gold, for sure, although Soundwave had so many posts I bet he comes close.

But like you I would never attempt to count it.

If ootc is off I find one liners an effective medium to relay information to someone else immediately who’s also in thread. I get more of an organic, less premeditated exchange. I do still like making longer posts for people to respond to on their own time though (rather than expect them to dredge through lots of quote exchanges I had with someone that was effectively only really meaningful at that specific moment in time), which is effective for more meaningful content such as reads, mechanics, presenting a case etc.

If it weren't such a bad idea to even consider some thing that people could edit, a great thing to do to help balance this problem would be to like, have everybody make 1 post at the start of the thread into which they could edit links to their big lengthy posts for future consultation.

I understand what you're saying but this can't ever work

it's the same reason you can't make edits in-game, this solution falls into the same pitfall

------that is, without cryptographic analysis
