Re: Zelda Wind Waker HD and New Zelda For Wii U
ugh no lol, a master quest version would ruin the majora's mask experience big time. It was completely stupid for ocarina of time to begin with, not because of the difficulty but because of how illogically it was set up. I mean, cow butts sticking out of lord jabu jabu's insides wtf. It breaks the immersion so much it's not even funny. It's just making it hard for the sake of making it hard.
Anyway, for the ocarina of time remake, the only thing that was significantly different is the town center as far as I can tell (which looks poorly done because it's lost most of the original atmosphere of the town center). The rest is just retexturing (even into a slightly different texture style in some areas) of already existing models or a slightly updated model with new texture. It's by no means "remade". I'm talking about a grand scale remake of majora's mask, with the dark style and moody atmosphere it deserves, models/environments up to date and with the same attention to detail as modern day games. I sure as hell don't want it on that small 3ds screen either. I want to be able to play it on big ass tv screen because fuck you. I mean, sure handheld is convenient and all that but I was super fucking pissed that they did a remake of ocarina of time for a fucking handheld. Handheld is always a downgrade compared to tv screen imo and I really don't like their decision on that. OoT remake and Majora's Mask remake deserve to be shown on a big tv screen and played as if you were in the game itself. Wind Waker is a proper remake even though it's mostly just wii u engine effects that they're finally able to use as opposed to the gamecube (that bloom is a bit over the top maybe though lol). That faked Majora's Mask Wii U trailer is a pretty good visualization of how Majora's Mask should be remade. PS Ocarina of Time 3D changed art style big time in their texturing jobs in some places (both stylistically and color wise) whereas Wind Waker is actually keeping true to the art style, but with better atmospheric effects. You're mixing the changes in art style up between the two games. PPS Yes, Nintendo pisses me off with their decisions on these games. They're not giving OoT and MM the attention they deserve imo.

Re: Zelda Wind Waker HD and New Zelda For Wii U
Well, I don't think it would be a good business decision. I'm even surprised they dared doing it with Wind Waker. I think making a huge remake of an underrated (?) Zelda game is risky, because fans will never like it as much as the original, people might not buy the game twice, satisfying graphics are hard to pull off, etc. Besides, if you want to play MM on your big ass TV, download it for 10 bucks on Virtual Console. No need to hate Nintendo on that, I think this is a reasonable approach. They need to come up with new stuff as well...
Honestly, I wouldn't be against a MM remake, but frankly, I would not want them to drop a new experience in favor of a pre-existing game. |

Re: Zelda Wind Waker HD and New Zelda For Wii U
Oh no, I can still play MM on my n64 or whatever else I would use, but the fact that pisses me off is that it gets "remade" for the fucking 3ds. Why not remake it for big screen use? It's a remake ("awesome" if you could call the current remake that) that is exclusive to a tiny ass fucking screen (big slap in the face!).
Also, I think it would invoke a lot of memory and passion for the games if they were remade properly, instead of lol retexture done. I mean, they still use the same fucking square-shaped "rocks" for pedestals at the entrance of the deku tree (and everywhere else for that matter) c'mon. Is it that hard to remodel it into an actual rock shape at least? (hint: it isn't) It's things like that that would make the game so much more appealing as a remake. Remodel rock pedestals into actual rocks, add some lush foliage here and there in the corners, add some rocks against the rock walls to break the monotonous flat walls etc etc. Those aren't even big things to do and can be instanced in games a lot but it would make a game so much more appealing.

Re: Zelda Wind Waker HD and New Zelda For Wii U
So the point of a game is to break the immersion and make you feel disconnected from the game? Because that's what their SuPeRhArD pUzZlEs did for me. There's more elegant ways to make it harder but they took an easy and lazy way by just adding random shit to it. Ramping up difficulty in itself is fine but how they did it was just complete bullshit.
edit: Comparable situation I guess is legitimate hard files vs complete dumps on stepmania. Master Quest being the dump edit2: I know it was a free game that came with copies of wind waker but they still spent time on making it. Time best spent elsewhere imo

No extras revealed yet... more screenshots from the trailer here: http://multiplayerblog.mtv.com/2013/...ake-announced/
A thing I noticed though is that Link's eyebrows do not bleed through his bangs so the character models aren't cel-shaded? Not that it's a bad thing but it's just something I noticed.

Re: Zelda Wind Waker HD and New Zelda For Wii U
I disagree with Spitfire on many points, but really all of this is just subjective. The idea of which system is necessarily "better" for the series is not objective, because it doesn't solely rely on the power and graphical capabilities of the system. It relies on a whole slew of other things as well that is not worth talking about because some people don't really understand how important it is to some people.

Yes, I realize a lot of these are not Sony exclusives, some were on the 360 and/or the PC, but NONE of the games I listed were released on the Wii, or any Nintendo system. Nintendo's got Mario, Legend of Zelda, Metroid, Kirby, etc and their releases in these IPs are all excellent but often times they're a year or more apart. There's a good game released on the PS3 every few months. Unless Nintendo can convince the developers of the franchises I listed (and others I didn't) to make good games for their system, sticking with Sony is the logical choice for me.

Just so a portion of you guys know there IS a certain little short of Majora's mask that ISN'T fake. Nintendo recently did a survey to see which game would get voted most to be made. A link to the past remake, A link to the past II, or Majora's mask. And Majora's mask had actually won by a couple thousand votes.

Re: Zelda Wind Waker HD and New Zelda For Wii U
tbh I consider those games middling. Ratchet's the best one, but it's more of a bonus you get than a reason TO get. I think a good argument for PS3 would have to include Mirror's Edge and Bayonetta, even if they're not exclusives. If we're just talking about "good" games, it's not a very strong word so a lot of stuff could fall under it. I don't think the PS3 has more than two or three games of the caliber the Wii had seven or eight of. That doesn't say anything definitive about the next generation, but if we're just extrapolating...
A Windwaker remake is not really something that can be made up for with Bioshocks and Skyrims. Even if you think the total "volume of greatness" or whatever will be higher on the next Sony platform, there's nothing quite like the razor's edge, and almost every recent game like that has been for a Nintendo console, and no game like that has ever belonged to the FPS genre. Well anyway, never playing all the way through Windwaker is probably the thing about gaming most begging to be fixed for me. I'm going to get this no matter what.

WHAT!? This is probably one of the best Gamecube games and Zelda games ever! (tied with Majora's Mask for me) You need to finish it before the HD remake gets released!
