Monitor purchases?
In a spur of the moment kind of thing I would probably like to purchase a new monitor. One with probably the closest thing to 0ms of lag and good refresh rate and stuff. Price isn't an overall issue here so people that know their stuff send away.
(Also the 0ms of lag kind thing is kind of for beatmania purposes)

Re: Monitor purchases?
Does the size of the screen matter? Bigger or smaller?
Anyway here's another 1ms monitor: http://www.officemax.com/technology/...i_sku=23096962 No, to my knowledge, there is no such thing as a monitor with a response rate faster than 1ms on the consumer market. There are some that say that the human eye can not judge the difference between 2.25ms and anything faster than that, so keep that in mind and you might be able to save a little money.

Re: Monitor purchases?
Well like I said i just feel like upgrading and god knows i spent ALOT on my music games as it is. Not saying i need exactly zero but yea the closest thing to it. I bought me my 23inch acer monitor and i think it has 5ms of lag and some semi big changes in refresh rates.

Re: Monitor purchases?
I don't spend a whole lot of time on rhythm games these days but I have two monitors, one is actually an HDTV, a 24" Vizio, and the other is an Acer at 19". Both of them have refresh rates of 5ms because they're both about 3 years old and that was almost top-grade stuff back then. I have never experienced any lag that I blame on either of my monitors, most of it comes from my computer. I don't know what kind of hardware you're running but if you want to make a 1ms monitor worth it, you should have an i7 and a GTX 560 or better in your case. Just my two cents...

Re: Monitor purchases?
Beatmania's timing window is so ridiculously tight that you would be able to tell the difference from playing on an LCD and a CRT. So closest thing to good quality for least lag. Not to mention many other monitor's better than an acer one

Re: Monitor purchases?
In my experience, there is virtually no difference between 1ms response and 2ms response. *In theory* 5ms response is every so slightly slower, but it's usually the other specs that cause the response to be 'slower'.
Test stuff out before purchasing a new monitor. Edit: I can't recommend any monitors since I don't have much experience with them (I use this dumb HP monitor and this ridiculously slow LG IPS monitor) Last edited by Evnoir; 12-22-2011 at 01:12 AM.. |

Re: Monitor purchases?
Yea crash fan CRT's don't have to deal with upscaling images like LCD's do which causes the visual lag which you see. I am not hating on Acer, but my monitor in general is "meh" compared to most. and Yes i do have it hooked up through HDMI already

Re: Monitor purchases?
You can't compare the response times and refresh rates of CRTs and LCDs. The technology is completely different, and the terms do not mean the same things.

Re: Monitor purchases?
Use a DVI in/out put , dont use converters, use a graphic card with at least 128 bit width. If you can tell the difference in like 5milisecond, I guess its not impossible to notice, then CRT they go up to like 600hz+. Not much of internal processing(less delay) and not exactly cheaper.
Turn off prerender frames in graphic settings so you dont get any frame buffers. Any lag you experience is just ram latency and usb port latency. Usb you can't do much about, but ram you could, but thats a whole nother story. I believe the registry may have some preset key/mouse latency somewhere in there. So if you need your key hits to be snappy gotta take care of all of that. Monitor is probably the lesser factor (unless you use a TV, then it all goes to hell)
