I had very fond memories of some PS1 racing games, such as Chocobo Racing and especially Crash Team Racing. Holy cow were racing games fun back then - and none of it involved Mario.

There were some pretty hardcore platforming games that involved a lot of pixel-perfect jumping and timing. Try out Croc: Legend of the Gobbos, Frogger (an updated PS1 adaptation), and the very original Crash Bandicoot game for some memorable platforming.

In addition to Frogger, there were also a number of other adapted classic games that were surprisingly addicting, including Pong and Q*bert, all for the PS1.

And then you should also try Crash Bash for a fun party genre game.

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night.

Can't think of any other good games for it atm.

Does anyone remember the 3D pac-man games and the names for them, I think there was 2 individual games for it but I could be mistaken.

The 3D game included unlockables to play the 2d pacman version in-game iirc. I remember the 3d game being hard as hell to get 100% on.

I also remember my favorite level being somewhat related to pirates & cannons if that helps jog any memories.

I personally found Spyro 3 the worst in the original series, but it was definitely still fun because of the massive content.

O pls

There was still a reasoning behind it. I wasn't only being a jackass here: I buy games that I like. These were most of the games I think you could affordably find interesting, since I managed to find them myself.

I will take a look at star ocean since gold stinger and gundam make it seem like it's worth playing.
@bmah, I have the first croc. I love the game a lot but couldn't compare it too croc 2.
@eric, I honestly thought twisted metal 3 was the best.

Seems like crash team racing is a favorite for a lot of you guys.

Okay, but I don't even recognize some of those games; however, I did manage to buy beyblade since it was on your list.

Oh yeah, I also have Frogger 2: Swampy's Revenge. Still enjoyable, though not as tough as the original PSX Frogger. It also has a storyline, unlike its predecessor.

More racing games: I have Destruction Derby 2, Cool Boarders 2, and Jet Moto 2. Don't remember/recommend Destruction Derby 2, but you should try out Jet Moto 2. It's fun yet rather hardcore from what I remember and the courses can get insane. It is fricken hard.

If you liked Parappa the Rapper, get Um Jammer Lammy...I personally think it's far better than Parappa the Rapper in terms of content.

...And then there are the PSX DDR games. They weren't all that spectacular, but Konamix is fairly decent for what it is. It has some old DDR songs that you won't find in any other DDR game or even arcade cabinets - unless you happen to have the very oldest ones.

And I really doubt you can obtain this one anytime soon, but if you ever happen to come across LSD: Dream Emulator, go get it for a one-of-a-kind, extremely weird sandbox game experience. It contains all the essences of Japanese weirdness and is basically exploring an acid trip of the game developer's dreams as he described in his dream journal. The most accessible way to play this game is via a PSX emulator, but finding an actual copy is very hard.

Wasn't that the goal of your thread? To learn about good lesser known ps1 games?

The two games I kinda liked back in PS1 was Bloody Roar and Captain Tsubasa.
Other than that I just played some other soccer games, I also did play Chocobo Racing but never beaten the dragon (final level I think) cause he's kinda OP for me at that time.

- The Legend of Dragoon
- Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee
- Heart of Darkness
- Tony Hawk Pro Skater (2 and 3 are the best, imo)
- Coolboarders (most of the games are fun)
- Resident Evil (1/Director's Cut, 2, 3; Survivor is an interesting game if you want a more in-your-face take being first person)
- Tomb Raider (all of the games are great, reasonably difficult)
- Crash Bandicoot 1, and Crash Bandicoot 3 (CB2 is a little too easy for my tastes/enjoyment)
- Crash Team Racing, Crash Bash (separated because they're not platformers)
- Gex (awesome platform fun that not a lot of people realize)
- Dino Crisis (interesting game)
- Fatal Frame (pls)

god I can keep going with the suggestions, I was a PSX/PSone fanatic and had an absolute monster of a collection growing up, haha

Kula World (Addicting as fuck)
Metal Gear Solid VR (It's its own game but it's basically extra missions and training for Metal Gear Solid, had a fucking blast with this one)
Skull Monkeys
T'ai Fu: Wrath of the Tiger
Vagrant Story
Wild 9 (badass game, really fun platformer)

WipEout games are cool too

Also highly recommend some of the games that others already mentioned like Heart of Darkness, Oddworld, Resident Evil series and Silent Hill series.
