And where did I ever say I was always right? People are always making that assumption. I may make a decision at my discretion and maybe it's not always right but it is my discretion and what I think is best for the tournament AS A WHOLE. Not just for one particular person. All I do is explain MY reasoning as to why I do whatever I chose to do. People also tend to make an assumption that I'm mad all the time, which is also not the case I just tent to be direct and to the point with things. I guess I could try to sugarcoat it more and make it sound prettier but I mean it is the internet and it is text. Can't entirely portray emotion in it. |

Re: 6th Official FFR Tournament - Round 3 has started!
No one realizes that there's no truly practical way to place everybody properly in a tournament of this length.
You can't sit there and say not to move anyone because any person harboring an old account or time could sit there and fake it all. Ideally, you'll want to make the least amount of moves possible as to not disrupt the equilibrium of the tournament. There is no winning. There is, however, a chance minimizing damage in a particular division by moving people to their appropriate divisions. That one person can complain about their incorrect placement, but the rest of the division has a better shot because this one player who didn't belong in the division has been removed. Everyone can sit here and argue everything all they want; you'll never solve anything. The users won't solve anything, tournament staff won't solve anything, and players within the division won't solve anything. Just move on and bring people up civilly with a decent case -privately- and that's it. as far as Clipso, Kono Spoon/Amen Iraq aren't extremely high 11s and SDGs on songs in this area are expected of a well-rounded D5 player. There are a number of D5 players with FGO SDGs too. |

Re: 6th Official FFR Tournament - Round 3 has started!
Guys can we just be grateful that 1: after two years you're getting another tournament (i say "you're" cuz this is my first official) and 2: It could be worse. It's not like Zak and Darkbreeze were sandbagging. I don't know about darkbreeze but the way i see it, Kayla had a feeling Zak was meant to be in D4, but temporarily placed him to see how he would progress at the top of D3. Now he's moved up so....doesn't mean it's over. Should be more motivation to do the best you can (: They rightfully claimed their spots in D4 and we should be welcoming them instead of starting all this controversy.
Just a thought.

Re: 6th Official FFR Tournament - Round 3 has started!
I'm going to be completely honest, I do believe I should be D3 still, but, I'm accepting D4 even though I'm almost certain I won't even get to top 10. Personally most of my good scores are random flukes but I can't prove it so I won't even try to do so.
I just hope I can do something in D4, although I'll probably barely make it past this round since I can't do rolls for shit. |

Re: 6th Official FFR Tournament - Round 3 has started!
Third official tourney was the first tourney I entered. I think my best AAA at this point in time was July. Got placed in D2 and everyone had to play {Rose} as a tiebreaker during the third or so round since everyone destroyed Cash Cow.
I. Practiced. My. Friggin'. Butt. Off...and it paid off, I AAA'd, along with Draigun and someone else. EVERYONE STARTED PM'ING SPRITE SAYING BUMP THOSE GUYS UP, THEY'RE TOO GOOD And I had never been madder or more baffled on FFR than at that point in time. I must've spent 5+ hours whoring Rose one afternoon to get that score, and I'm sure the other guys did the same. Although Sprite didn't force the bump or anything (he PM'd the three of us asking if any of us would accept being bumped to D3), I was still pretty rattled that it came to that. I can say with a fair amount of certainty that the people that were complaining didn't put nearly the same amount of effort in that me, Draigun, and the other dude did. Sandbagging's one thing, I totally get that sandbaggers should rightfully be bumped (or disqualified). But if people are working their asses off over the course of the tourney to improve to stand a fighting chance of finishing in the top 8/5/3 etc., when those guys get bumped...it just saddens me, honestly, because they work so hard to get to the top tier of their division just to wind up in the lower-middle tier of the next division up. :/ |

Re: 6th Official FFR Tournament - Round 3 has started!
Only reason I didn't wonder about Darkbreezee is because I agreed he should be moved up. Wasn't quite so sure about Zak.
Oh well, I don't mind either way. A little odd to be moving people around this late, but then again it does say quite clearly that you can do whatever you want being the person running this tournament, so I just have to trust your judgement. Just makes me worried. So am I going to be bumped up to D5 now that I'm beating your scores too? Where exactly is the line between "working hard" and "sandbagging"

Re: 6th Official FFR Tournament - Round 3 has started!
The only thing that makes this different is that Zakvvv was someone who we considered putting in Division 4 anyway. It really is a tough situation, but Zak seems accepting of it, too. Similarly, there were a few people in each division that we wanted to put up a division.

"which is also not the case I just tent to be direct and to the point with things." - For sure. "I guess I could try to sugarcoat it more and make it sound prettier but I mean it is the internet and it is text. Can't entirely portray emotion in it." Just reiterating that the way you do it makes it seem like you're a parent telling how things should be done even if you don't mean it that way (which you've made clear) -yuuup Quote:
Edit: sorry for double post Edit 2: After round 1 makes sense for sandbaggers, but not for people that started with similar skill is what I think everyone's trying to get at. It kind of makes it "improve, but don't improve too fast or you'll lose in the division up" which goes against being the best you can be for the tourney ^ since it's really the reason behind everyone complaining Edit 3: thanks halogen =)

I think everything's been fully discussed 10x over. (I especially liked OWA's post )
We should just all just listen to epic music and relax while eating cookies. |

Re: 6th Official FFR Tournament - Round 3 has started!
Again at the very start we had zak in D4 originally, then decided with the rest of his scores that maybe the 9 on runnymorning was a fluke and believe me I got PMs right from the get go because of that score. We're only 2 rounds in and he's achieved stuff that pushed him over the line. The way people are talking it's as if we're halfway through the tournament already.
He's got 1 on Balloon Fever which is an ex 11 A whole bunch of other VC SDGs 9 on RunnyMorning 10 on 300 with 14 plays 12 on DsOk with 8 plays 12 on 0 with 2 plays 11 on Arrogant Cobbler with 6 plays 14 on Summertime Perfume with only 5 plays 15 on BBEvo which is over 5 minutes long. Now granted these aren't quite sdgs but they're damn close and look at how few plays. How as a tourney host can I not consider this a threat to D3? This is my reasoning for it, if you guys still don't agree well I don't know what else to say. He stays in D3 I feel he's going to absolutely crush it. |

I score well on FGOs because I've been practicing FGOs very hard, but now I'm honestly quite worried to practice more on the official engine. While I personally don't believe I am sandbagging in the slightest, how am I to be sure that's what everyone else thinks... I don't want to be punished for working hard! I have to agree with OWA in this case.

Re: 6th Official FFR Tournament - Round 3 has started!
How about this: We move everybody who has a chance of winning their division up to the next division? But wait, then there would be others with the chance of winning so they'd have to be moved up two. Point is, all of this is pointless, it's supposed to be fun, if we wanted to have a serious tournament, it would be live in the MP. Stop complaining because you were placed in the wrong division, stop all of it. There's nothing serious about this. If you win, you get no money, you just get a FFR T-Shirt and some virtual credits. Everybody needs to calm down, and just enjoy. Ps get my T-Shirt ready !_!

Re: 6th Official FFR Tournament - Round 3 has started!
The only thing I can say in my defense is I rape the restart button, and that Runnymorning score was a fluke months ago, the replay is saved. Either way though, I wish I was D3 still but I'm just gonna sit here raping the restart button on Finder trying to get a good run in.

The reasons behind moving him up make sense right now, but I'm sure D3 players will catch up with him by next round boosting skill, he was just the first to get it done. - rest is said above
