Exclamation Ecuadorian Embassy gives Julian Assange up into the hands of UK authorities

https://www.nytimes.com/2019/04/11/w...r-embassy.html

The United States has charged WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange with one count of conspiracy to hack a computer related to his role in the 2010 release of reams of secret American documents, according to a criminal complaint unsealed Thursday just hours after British authorities arrested him in London.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Of course, people are saying this is a huge precedent and an attack on free speech and journalism. Apparently it was a joint planned effort between the international authorities to get this done. Previous Ecuadorian president has denounced the current president and the move for allowing foreign authorities into the Embassy.

If he'd just have cleaned up after that damned cat.

Also, "decades in prison" doesn't he stand to currently face -five- years in prison? There are people in prison for longer than that for stealing a chocolate bar.

Our administration is clearly politically aligned with him so they're mostly just doing this to open up the door to jailing whistleblowers and journalists more. They put Chelsea Manning back in prison too recently, and look at what they did to Reality Winner.

I'd have a lot more sympathy for Assange as a particular example of any danger to journalism if he wasn't basically busy running out the clock on the statute of limitations for rape charges.
