Team VS Team System
After hours and hours of typing, clicking, and possible carpal tunnel syndrome, I have worked out a possible system for team vs team via a governing hub.
However it requires an ass load of volunteers, so I thought I'd finish the example site before even bringing it up. Give it a run through and see what you think. http://dominationnetwork.webs.com/ Look around through all the pages and whatnot, and hopefully it gets running. Going back to contributing to carpal tunnel syndrome inducing activities such as typing for another hour or so, - Darcy T TD_Project |

Re: Team VS Team System
I honestly don't see a point in this. For the most part teams are dead on FFR anyways and everyone that's on DF is on the DF site.

No need to participate then.
The Network also states it would encourage growth of new teams along the same structure that the other teams are on. So if all was to turn out I'd only guess there would be more teams. All explained within site. Last edited by TD_Project; 02-17-2011 at 12:46 PM.. |

Re: Team VS Team System
I read the site and I don't see how it will encourage growth of particular teams. Plus what reason do people have right now to trust you when it comes to running things having to do with teams? You made a post months ago about bringing back TD then disappeared. You haven't exactly displayed a dedication to this and now you come back with your site as if you know all when it comes to teams.

Re: Team VS Team System
You obviously are in no place to be trying to run a team when you're barely on FFR yourself, let alone organizing a hub with others who actually have been a lot more active.
With that being said, there's absolutely no reason to try and run a "team vs. team" system when there's barely enough users interested in wanting to be on a team competitively. Making an external website for OTHER teams to go through YOUR website also comes across as advertisement because you can hold a team vs. team event here on the site that all of the teams are universally playing. Your site has no explanation as to how anything is going to work. If you're going to advocate a new system, make it so that everyone can freely see what it is you're trying to do, and why/how you're doing it. |

I personally don't see any point in making teams on FFR in general, but that's just me.

Re: Team VS Team System
It's for a sense of belonging. Like street gangs only on FFR XD
The idea does seem neat, kinda like a team scrimmage but from the sounds of it I don't think there are many teams to compete.. |

Re: Team VS Team System
I guess so. But considering the individual nature of FFR, making teams seems ultimately pointless. Tournaments, on the other hand, I find to be more appropriate for a game that requires individual talent/skill.

Re: Team VS Team System
Teams were strong on FFR at one point. It was a fun way to make some friends and compete with other people wether it was against another team or within the team itself. My point is with this though is he's trying to make the teams sign up for an external site that he created. Why would I want to take my team and have them on his site? That's what I want to know. Everything event related to a team can be done right here on the FFR forums so why use an external hub?

The current FFR site provides zero support for team systems. In any case most of my ideas are already stated. In a nutshell. Created website to act as hub. Looking for experienced staff to help in creating a team structure. Then a team vs team structure, etc. I know already that I will be faced with tons of criticism, however I will try hard to get this idea afloat. Once again all interested parties just PM me. /novel, - Darcy T TD_Project |

That's just it though why would people want all teams to be the same? I don't remember TD so I don't know how you ran it so I'll use TC for example they did the tryouts and you had to be a certain level of player to join the team. You also had to create a TC account, etc. Where as when I started DF it was open to anyone that wanted to be a part of the team and no one needed to make a special account. It just seems like you want teams to be cookie cutter of one another and I don't think it should be that way. If someone has an idea for how they want to do a team vs how someone else has done or is doing a team they're going to do it that way. I'm happy with the success we've had with DF and how we did it. I wouldn't want to change it. Plus I never really liked the having to be a certain skill level to be on a team. There's different divisions for a reason so I feel teams should have all diff skill leveled players. Either way with how much smaller the community is right now I don't forsee a bunch of teams being spawned up. I'd like to see another one come around so DF has someone to compete with we've been pretty dormant since there are no other teams currently. |

Re: Team VS Team System
My idea was just to set up a same structure, that would be developed over time.
Either way I do see your concerns, and do take that into account, but if this fails then it fails. If it succeeds then it succeeds. I'm focusing on this, as well as my own teams stability for now anyways. Happy gaming, - Darcy T TD_Project |
