mi40
It’s time I do a more detailed explanation of the problem with mi40 (I’ll be using that name here since it’s the shortest and easiest to type out of all his other alternate account names).
This may sound extreme but I will explain: It seems as though mi40 is indirectly trying to manipulate staff to do things in his favor by persistence. He frequently provokes other users publicly (there are many instances of this) with the end result generally being in a locked thread or just pages of bashing. He gets super defensive if he ever receives criticism, and then he resorts to anyone who talks to him to support him. Disrespecting staff and being abusive to other users is something that a normal user would receive infractions for, but mi40 seems to get away with these actions most of the time. His overall post quality is poor and it doesn’t reflect well on the site. mi40’s attitude toward the batch is unacceptable. It reminds me of NASA’s managers at the time of the Columbia disaster who, “thought they were so damn important.” That phrase comes from Alan Mullaly who isn't related to that incident in any way, but it certainly is a good description. Since mi40 is able to be persistent and get away with things, he utilizes that as much as he can. I mention the Columbia disaster because when the managers were questioned they tried to dodge accountability, saying that they put their “management hats” on instead of their “engineering hats”. In other words, mi40 is basically doing what he can to provoke other users who say something he did was wrong and tries to dodge the accountability aspect. mi40 made a request in the batch thread for me to never judge his files again. Seriously? This is what I mean by his persistence. He is so stubborn in wanting to get his files into the batch, thinking his files are so damn awesome (“so damn important” comparison from Alan Mullaly) that he resorts to his influence on other users through his persistence. He twisted my review when I said that there were technically 64ths – never did I said to actually step it that densely nor did I imply it (it's because he stepped different notation instead of 32nds), and just because I put a long list of errors does not mean I have a bias against that song’s genre. Look at Robotomy’s massive list of errors – mi40 himself fell into the trap of “false accuracy” where the tremendous number of color notes makes the file look technical, but in reality there are just a lot of wrong notes disguised as colors to look correct. Unlike some of the other judges that write something incredibly short and unhelpful with low ratings, I try putting in legitimate arguments to my ratings. The files mi40 submitted had a long list of errors. I don’t say one-liners like Choofers or kommisar and give a low rating, I state what problems there are. I know as a judge I point out pattern choices often and I'm not a perfect judge, but again nobody is. What I do get concerned about, however, is when steppers try shoving their egos at the judges who took the time to compile a long list of notes rather than writing short sentences. What the hell kind of a request is it for me to not judge his files then? So he can continue getting files in with lots of errors? He also says stuff like “better than Jamais Vu”, trying to provoke me again. He’s clearly utilizing his persistence and stubbornness here. This kind of attitude is unacceptable and it reflects poorly on the site. I haven’t even looked into the issue of him having so many alternate accounts either – it just makes everything more confusing. mi40 can’t just continue being able to get away with these kinds of provocative actions scot-free just because other users talk to him. He’s indirectly trying to manipulate the people who do have power to do things in his favor. |

I think his files are delicious like butter rollin off a hot biscuit The aroma, the mean scent, was enough to arouse suspicion in even the oldest of Tigers that hung around the hot spot in those days.

Re: mi40
I think a similar bias happens with any content producer, really. Kommisar had a lot of files in game, and then the infamous Cosplay incident happened. He was supposed to be permabanned, and yet he's back among us.
Oh sure, people will bring up "what about Dossar, he cheated and got banned and look at him" but that's because he worked to make amends. mi40 has yet to display any measure of repentance. I suspect half the reason you didn't come to the mods about this is that on some level, Choof, you think they're pushovers, and I'm inclined to agree. If they weren't, they would have banned his ass a long time ago. |

Re: mi40
To be fair, Choof, you get away with a lot of forum misconduct as well. Not as bad as being manipulative, but it's still silly.
