Default I accidentally iTunes.

Yup. As in the title, I accidentally iTunes.
Ordinarily, this would be something I could fix on my own, because it's usually a very easy fix.

ANYWAY.

I accidentally shut my laptop down while iTunes was updating. iTunes won't run at all now. When I try to start it, the window focus does change, but nothing else happens. I've tried repairing and reinstalling Bonjour and iTunes. And yes. I have restarted my laptop.
Any fixes?

Got a backup saved?

Other than that you might have to go through the very tedious process of figuring out exactly which files iTunes added and removing those, figuring out exactly which registry entries it added and removing those, and figuring out which configuration files, registry entries, and other files it changed, and changing them back (but not deleting those), and removing it from the uninstall section in the Add/Remove Programs section.

^-- get any of that wrong and it will likely make things a lot worse though. In particular, don't accidentally any important Windows dlls or other files.

Alternately, wait until the next version of iTunes is released, and try to install that -- if, during the install it gives you the option to retain settings from a previous install, choose instead to do a fresh install, overwriting settings. That's probably the safest way, but not guaranteed to work.

--edit--
Just general advice for any botched software installs on Windows.
Also you might be able to find out what files a particular program installs/modifies/etc via google searches.

You'll have to specify which operating system you run.

But if you 're on Windows, sometimes programs don't uninstall properly, so make sure it's gone before you reinstall. Check the program files folders, etc.

And before reinstalling, restart your computer. This will reset any registry changes and flush any caches that may have corrupted data.

don't use itunes

but in all seriousness, delete everything related to itunes and then reinstall it, because repairing it may not fix the damage caused by a corrupt update

you could try a system restore/recovery as well, to before you installed the update

Quicktime was being updated as well; reinstalling fixed it.
I dun wanna use WMP. I DUN WANNAASKDALSDHLSHGA ;_;

Alright, I used ccleaner to clean out temp/dump files and 'fix' registry, deleted every iTunes related file, restarted and reinstalled. After all that, iTunesHelper.exe is now running. It's pretty useless, but hey, progress. 8)

@everyone: I'm running Windows 7.

@username: I'm not a fan of manually messing with the registry anyway, hahaha.

@bob_bob: I don't backup my computer D:
I really should.

Maybe you can try to use a third party program to remove Itunes.

I personally use Revo Unistaller to remove a program.

In your case try to remove it with a third party program, restart and reinstall Itunes and see what happens.

Go here:
C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes\

Copy the iTunes folder, within the folder you are in, out somewhere else. (I have no idea if this will actually restore your library statistics...)

Make sure iTunes is uninstalled.
Delete: C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes\
(If 64bit, delete C:\Program Files\iTunes as well.)

Download: http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download/standard
(During setup, when it comes to any page with check boxes, it's probably a better idea to uncheck almost all of them. Leave the shortcuts.)

Run the registry cleaner with everything selected 2~4 times, or until errors fail to appear.

Attempt an iTunes installation.
Open iTunes.

If it works:
Close iTunes.
Copy the iTunes folder, (C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes\iTunes) within the folder you are in, out somewhere else. (Rename it so it doesn't merge with your previous one.)
Drag the first backup into iTunes folder, start iTunes. (Pray)

If that doesn't work, try to figure out more to do, otherwise put the old folder back and too bad.

p.s I don't use iTunes. goodluck.

Try this: http://www.howtogeek.com/?post_type=post&p=23959

I'm not really an expert on Windows but clearing out your registry of all iTunes entries is worth a shot. If you purge your registry of all traces of iTunes, remove iTunes from Add/Remove programs, and then poking around 'Program Files' or wherever iTunes may be will probably remove ALL traces of iTunes from your computer and you should be back at a clean slate. I suggest doing this with ALL Apple products if this doesn't work.

Yeah, should've posted earlier:
I removed Bonjour and Quicktime, cleaned the registry of Apple stuff, restarted and reinstalled.

It's all good now. Thanks everyone.
