Re: 10th Official FFR Tournament - Round 1 Songs
I have terrible offset issues with Polargeist for some reason. Played the D1 and D3 picks and they seem just fine on the same offset. Anyone got any tips for fixing this?
On the subject of songs though, D1: It's a good, fun chart, but rather lengthy imo. D2: I played Geometry Dash, so I really dig the music from that game. I'm having major issues on the chart, but other than that it's ok. D3: Really like this one. That's all I've played :P

Totes agree with the chart being long. Gonna take a long time to improve it.

Re: 10th Official FFR Tournament - Round 1 Songs
Yeah. Last official started with a 13 and this one is a 15. So definitely a jump up, but not too bad. Currently trying to whittle down my 18 goods. In the middle of the pack for now, so I should be fine.

Re: 10th Official FFR Tournament - Round 1 Songs
D1: Rainbow Road - Feels like a harder file than usual for round 1 for D1. Was stepped really nicely though for an easy chart.
D5: Truth (xKore Remix) - I've been wondering when FFR was going to get another xKore song in haha. Thought it was fun to play since the patterns were smooth. D6: Lexus Cyanixs - Definetly the hardest round 1 D6 song I've seen imo (Previous Round 1 songs I remember are The Rapids, Spoils, Pussy Pump, and Guile of the Rime King). I personally enjoyed the song and the file. I don't really understand what's going on in the chart though as my fingers just do the work for me mostly but the patterns aren't awkward to me at all and feel great hitting. Definetly my favorite this round. D7: Pandemonium - This reminds me of Halcyon stepped by bmah where I enjoy playing most of the file and then there's those one or two sections that are just aids awkward and ruin the file for me :/

Jokes aside, I see where you're coming from. I do think one needs to be of a certain inclination to enjoy a song like Sesh, glad to see that some people did. It's certainly not the most exciting song, so it's unfortunate if you didn't enjoy it, but rest assured whatever I have left in the tournament is much more dynamic than long, slow burn streamz. p.s. Middie: There are no hands because I didn't feel as if any sound was particularly distinctive or domineering. What are currently the 192nd jumps are probably the best candidates for this, but since they're just time-stretched and distorted samples of the main beat, they weren't really enough for me. As for the rest of the files maybe I just have really odd tastes but I didn't like D4's song (the file itself was pretty impeccable though). D6 was my favourite file of the round, really nice stuff. D7's was pretty cool too even though I can't play it competently; Halogen's files were on point as well (nice catch on the repeating C during the keyboard melody bits; I've listened to the song many times before but I never caught that...)

Anyways, Truth was a lot of fun. Not really sure if the pink arrows were necessary, but it gave an interesting touch to the file. Im actually surprised that I AAAd it because of that O.o

Re: 10th Official FFR Tournament - Round 1 Songs
D1 - Rainbow Road: Alright, not too much to say about this one. I reckon some of those 16ths will give D1 players quite a bit of trouble...
D2 - Polargeist: Thought the file was a nice easy take on the song. D3 - Session: I actually fully enjoyed this. Probably my favorite of the week. Straightforward but fun to play. D4 - Fill Me Up With Snacky Happiness: A+ song. Nice file, too. Props to gameboy. D5 - Truth (xKore Remix): I figured at around 390 combo that Xiz had something to do with this file. 5 points for me!! D6 - Lexus Cyanixs: Started off really awesome. Rest of the file was pretty solid, too, but a couple of sections felt really weird and detracted from my enjoyment a bit. D7 - Pandemonium: It was alright. Like some people said, it's highly reminiscent of Halcyon, and I'm bad at Halcyon =w=

Re: 10th Official FFR Tournament - Round 1 Songs
I'm actually kinda bummed I missed the signups now that I got 7 clean on the D3 song on my 2nd try ;w;
Though I'm pretty sure I would not have the time to play enough atm. D1: Suprisingly hard for the opening round. D2: Nice and relaxed file, found it almost easier than the D1 file ;w; D3: Plays very nicely and the song is pure nostalgia for me =w= D4: Really fun file and a fun song too. Anything above is 3hard5me. |

Oh snap. D4 song: Chill tempo + swing beat = this song was made for me to AAA Easiest 56 I've ever played.
Here's my first attempt, cold and on a pc at work, lol. At least I can make it past round 1.

Re: 10th Official FFR Tournament - Round 1 Songs
Had a chance to play Snacky Happiness.
Song fuckin' rules, always thought Rosalina's Observatory theme would be easy and fun for a jazz cover. The vague allusions to someone being "filled with snacky happiness" were amusing to say the least. Maybe Mario finally getting a piece of that "cake" he's always been promised. File is very fun too. I like it a lot. Quote:
Sitting atop a throne of arrows, watching the lowly peasants struggle huh I see why he does it srs tho I already regret the [12]432[14] burst in the hard section, the rest of the measure would be very easy if it weren't for being transitioned into so weirdly by that burst.

Snacky Happiness gettin' lots of love <3

Still playing the rest of the tournament songs, I'll have comments on those too (so far they're all really good IMO). EDIT: Finished playing everything. Rainbow Road: NOT RAINBOWY ENOUGH 0/10 Okay in all seriousness though. At first I was pretty torn about Halogen stepping the full song instead of cutting it, but after playing it I really don't mind not being cut at all. It's really just that good of a song and that great of a file for its intended difficulty level. This is the kind of thing I'd like to see more people try to step in FFR; easy files for energetic and upbeat songs, not just easy files for slow piano songs. (Not that there's much wrong with the latter, but it gets really old after a while.) Favorite file this round. Polargeist: I swear this song title sounds like a Pokemon name. Pretty chill file (no pun intended). Not overcomplicating the steps here was a good choice. A harder file for this just wouldn't feel right. I could definitely see myself playing this a lot if I was around D1/D2 (although I'd be playing Rainbow Road a lot more). Session (Ghost in the Machine Remix): Interesting remix of Session, I guess. This one was just okay. The steps were good considering what you had to work with but I think song choice really hurt here. Not one of my favorites, sorry. Truth (xKore Remix): RAZOR AND XIZ JOIN FORCES. FINALLY. Can't wait to see what drumstep simfile goodness they created together. Aaaaaand I'm slightly disappointed. Slightly. It's really good but I had unreasonably high expectations (Razor and Xiz are great at stepping dubstep & similar genres). Definitely would play again though. Pretty much tied with Lexus Cyanixs for second favorite this week. Lexus Cyanixs: Wow. Bursty little file you've got going on here, cornman. Fun file as usual from you. There's some trolly parts here and there but I think that actually adds to the fun factor in this case. Pandemonium: Hi19 has finally fused together with bmah to create the ultimate in cornyness and bmahness. All around it's a pretty good file, just those bmah bursts... which is funny seeing as bmah had no part in this file at all. Makes me think bmah and hi19 have been spending way too much time together lately. Last edited by gameboy42690; 10-2-2014 at 01:02 PM.. |

Re: 10th Official FFR Tournament - Round 1 Songs
D1 song: hard for D1 opener, the few 16ths are gonna trip 'em up. Song and steps are ok, but rather unremarkable.
D2 song: slightly boring song, but well-stepped. Besides one possibly hard syncopic moment in the left hand, it's all really straightforward and I honestly think the difficulty gap between the D1 and D2 song is so small that the cutoff in D2 will be near the AAA D3 song: lol, difficulty jump from 22 to 43, ok then. One hard spot with 16ths in a tough pattern. Low D3 is gonna have to grind this hard. Song and steps are ok, nothing really remarkable. D4 song: best song ever and the steps go really well to the song. Good difficulty for D4. D5 song: somehow, those 24ths on 4 with the 64th on 1 near the beginning felt a bit off to me and I messed up there several times. Other than that, straightforward file and easy for D5. D6: I like the song, but some of the bursts are quite obnoxious. Still, well-stepped. D7: too easy for D7. I expect only AAA's, unless people ragequit after a few tries, since there are one or two bmah-moments that can really get your hands flailing and your blood boiling. Song is fun.

Re: 10th Official FFR Tournament - Round 1 Songs
Rainbow Road: Really good song and the steps are fine. Seems a bit hard for D1 first round but what do I know.
Polargeist: That song is great and the steps fit it pretty nicely, good job on that one Halogen. Also nice to see such an upbeat song on that difficulty range. Session (Ghost in the Machine Remix): The song itself is somewhat ok and so are the steps, but it's pretty boring to play. Fill Me Up With Snacky Happiness: wow 10/10 song selection and really nice steps gameboy, my favourite for this round. This is really fun to play. Seems grossly misrated at 56 though. Truth (xKore Remix): Song selection is kind of a deal breaker for me so didn't enjoy it much. Steps are fine although a bit repetitive. Lexus Cyanixs: Solid cornman file, nice song and the steps flow pretty well as usual. Not a big fan of how some of the burst were stepped though. Pandemonium: A corny bmah was born. Fun to play up to the rage-inducing bmahs. I hope Capoeira Sundance is in this tourney too. |
