Re: Mystery Pack 3 Released
reviews
ant idm - goddamn rough starter file, wasn't really as appealing to play like autumn insomnia session, but this is still very top notch 8/10 bat country - pretty interesting ideas for this song, had a great structure to it and its a nice "breather" file 7/10 bubsy the bobcat - a simple file and nothing more, nice for a quad run 5/10 crystal sample - honestly the mines were annoying and makes it enraging to play any further, drags on as well 3/10 heart beat rock - i see no effort went into varying patterns huh 3/10 limbo - layering goes everywhere but given the song choice the file stays interesting and very abrupt, not too bad 5/10 manima ni - nice copy and paste nth degree - ==Nth DEGREE== pink nightmares - this was really cool, layering and the patterns were grade A for this song. pretty replayable imo, good job roar (great solo file too !!) 9/10 suffocating sight - i couldn't even go further than 20 seconds, im disappoint the new sound - practical file overall, annoying to play though witch of the bottomless swamp - when did you become the new baq12 aaron. i don't know, could have been better to play if it was shorter, otherwise it's just swing everywhere 4/10 witch's tower - could be fun on rates, not much interesting going on in this file but feels alright to play 5/10 top 5 pink nightmares ant idm bat country nth degree limbo

Re: Mystery Pack 3 Released
I'll just say this because I felt like I have to
I don't have anything against people giving whatever rating they want to files but, I think that saying "I quit out halfway" of files is just rude to the simfiler. Even if one thinks its bad, at least having the decency to play through the entire file before establishing an opinion whether good or bad is more respectful |

Re: Mystery Pack 3 Released
ant idm - Typical rog quality with a bit of dodgeball. Not your most memorable file to date but still a very solid work.
bat country - Well-stepped. Not always spectacular but it flows like a charm and it's a relief to see that you stopped well short of the entire song. bubsy - Short, sweet, and to the point. Though that roll in the middle is a massive spike in difficulty. crystal sample - It feels a bit longer than it should, though the song is pretty lax and can deceive one into that notion. Some questionable mine usage at points but not too bad. Though moches, i've seen much better from you. :< heart beat rock - Gunderp, why. D: This is really repetitive, and the song is just not really that great. I expect so much more out of you, you're one of my favorite stepfilers. limbo - Scylaax painstep. It's quality stuff and it's a file you can feel proud about keeping up with. I like it quite a bit, actually. manima ni - Like HBR, it gets kind of old, kind of quickly. Some of the expression mines were well-placed and used but it just doesn't have a lot of replay value for me. also, lots of hold abuse. nth degree - STEPHEN KAY SONG ALERT :O:O:O But seriously, it's well-synced, the steps are enjoyable, and it seems to play much faster than a lot of the marathon songs I encounter. pink nightmares - I wish you'd step more singles Roar. At least, as long as the steps you churn out look like this. Great structure, fun flow, and it reminds me a lot of Cansei De S NIK in quality level. suffocating sight - Looks like something from one of those random experiments. Sorry wab, but this isn't very good. The layering's inconsistent, jacks aren't used effectively, and it's just a pain to play. I played it once, but I doubt I'd play through a second time. the new sound - Not a fan of the song, but, it's not the song that disappoints me the most. It's the fact that you stepped it so plaintively, that I'm not seeing that classic wc expressiveness, that really drives the nail home. Where's the color, the accentuation? Anything to keep this from being as bland as it sounds, looks, and feels? It may be the new sound (and I pray it's not), but I hope it's not the new stepstyle. witch of the bottomless swamp - What a relief to see color after TNS. Plus, with a nice flow and a pretty neat, swingy song, I can see a lot of replay out of this file. Of course, I love a well-done swing. witch's tower - Puyo puyo. I enjoy the climax theory employed here, and the fact that it's rather short adds to the potential replay value. Song's not bad after you get used to it, either.

Re: Mystery Pack 3 Released
It appears SS is not my most successful file hue
I definitely could have and should have playtested the file more, but I think I may have felt rushed by Detri, and then after I sent my 1st version I forgot to fix up the file I'm not saying it as an excuse though, file still ended up like how I wanted it to more or less. I don't think my layering is inconsistent though.. Well there's always FFR Summer

*bump*
I played the pack with Detri on Jous' SMO server and took some whacks at who I thought was who. Sadly I didn't get to see any Patashu or Vospi Thoughts: Just out of personal taste, I enjoyed mostly -Ant IDM -Limbo -Nth Degree -Suffocating Sight The ones I guessed on the first try: Bubsy the Bobcat (Ferrari) Limbo (Scylaax) And the for the others I'd need to attend SimArtist Academy Had fun, good work stepmastas (o: Last edited by danny53x; 06-3-2012 at 12:38 AM.. |
