Portable Players.
I have concluded that I can't survive without a portable player. I need my music to be playing at all times. My iPod died 3 months ago, and I can't bear it any longer.
I've done a bit of research and have concluded that the 60GB iPod 60GB Zen Vision: M 60gb Zen Vision: W are the best mp3 players out there, and fit exactly to my needs (sort of). I'm not much of a video fanatic, but I do use the video features. I heavily dislike having to use convert my videos from <format> to .mov in order to see them in an iPod. The Zen mp3 players allow me to use a wide array of formats, but then again, the players themselves are very thick (One inch: Zen Vision: W / Thicker than the 60GB iPod: Zen Vision: M). Also, I do like iTunes. I think it's a reliable player, and the uploading system is easy-to-use and simple. I dislike the Zen Creative software, but I'm willing to use it. I prefer a simple Drag and Drop feature, actually. If you guys know anything about mp3 players, please suggest. I need a a good, reliable 60GB player. Music would be its primary function, followed by video. Video isn't necessarily as important to me; I see it as an 'added feature.' Also, it has to be pocketable. Anything that's not an iPod = + points. I need Good Battery Life, as well uhh, thanks. Last edited by FictionJunction; 12-5-2006 at 09:39 AM.. |

Re: Portable Players.
iPod hands down
best funcitonality and its easy to use Also as far as formats goes, iTunes comes with a converter that converts different formats to be compatible with iPod For battery life I recommend getting a wall charger or something that doesnt rely on the computers power. When I charge my iPod using the wall charger it charges to full within 10 minutes and it retains power for a good while.

Re: Portable Players.
I just ordered 60GB Zen Vision: M and it should be here hopefully Friday or Saturday. After doing a lot of reviewing and asking around I was led to pick this one.
Maybe you're looking for different features, but I picked this for the following reasons: -60GB seemed like the perfect amount of space (~40GB songs, and 20GB left for video that will probably be continuously switched out) -Higher quality video viewing and music playback -Ability to play WAY more video formats than iPod (big one) -A/V jack with high quality output to a TV -I hear the audio transferring and video formatting software is very easy to use and works great -It's not an iPod You may have already considered all these points, but if you want to wait until I get it, I'd be happy to answer some more specific questions.

Re: Portable Players.
Most definetly an iPod...I myself am getting a pink Nano for Christmas, but if you have THAT MANY songs go ahead and get a 60GB one.
***IMPORTANT NOTICE*** Apple no longer sells 60GB iPods. They're now 30Gb and 80GB. Although they are cheaper. Take your pick.

Re: Portable Players.
20,000 songs is only like 30-40gb.
Try 50,000. I had a 40gb iPod and it never even came close to taking half the songs from my computer. Then I stopped bringing it with me on the walk to class because it was pointless. |

Re: Portable Players.
Your walk to class must've been a very long walk.
Or way too short.

Re: Portable Players.
I'd reccomend the Toshiba Gigabeat S; you get all of the 60GBs that you want, and the price isn't that bad, either. (About $260) It's large like the Zen though, about an inch thick.

Re: Portable Players.
I heard the Sandisk Sansa was great. And even this one Samsung player, but not the one with the speakers, but the thin one. But iPods are great too. So is other ones.

Re: Portable Players.
My brother has a Sansa. It's 20-something GB, I believe, not nearly enough to hold a decent collection of music.

Re: Portable Players.
I decided to buy either the Zen Vision: M or Zen Vision: W
Remember, they both are 60GB models. The only difference is: Zen Vision: M isn't widescreen, Zen Vision: W is. I made dimension models to see which one I prefer the best: I'm still undecided. Zen Vision: M (left) and Zen Vision: W (right) Zen Vision: M Zen Vision: W Zen Vision: M in use (most likely watching a video while standing) Zen Vision: W in use (most likely watching a video while standing)[I could also use one hand, but it could feel a tad heavy]) Difference between the Zen Vision: M's (above) and the Zen Vision: W's (below) dimensions. |

Re: Portable Players.
Not to backtrack your decision, but with a good warranty, I find iPods a way better choice. They have way better software and mp4 downloads are a lot easier than you think (especially with Google video). Their problems lie in the fact that their batteries blow and they scratch extremely easy - me, I can replace my iPod whenever I need a new one for a decent reason for one of equal value for three years, which is much more than my money's worth.
If you cannot find a place with a good warranty (I got mine at Future Shop, which is the same company as Best Buy that you guys have (I think?)), then I'd go with a Zen, but besides that, I find iPods way better. As for which Zen model... I don't know, I know just as much as you do because I did all the research than decided against them. XD
