Default Is this good for R1?

I have the rights, but I'm still not sure about this song.

So Haunted - Cut Copy

It sounds sort of like a Rock song, but I didn't want to step it unless I got an approval for it to be steppable, because there are oh so many songs that just aren't right for FFR.

Anything is FFR worthy, if you have permission and you make the steps "work".
Ex.
Excite Bike
Death Piano
Enough said

Well, like, does it sound right. Some songs just don't sound right for FFR in my opinion, and in foil's.

Do you like the song? Do you think you could make a good chart for it? Do you have permission for it?

If the answer to all three of those questions is yes, then it sounds like a worthy candidate for a file.

Well now my only problem is finding the right BPM for it, how should I go about this?

Use MixMeister BPM Analyzer or some other program. Or, if the song has a constant BPM: http://www.all8.com/tools/bpm.htm

I really don't want to download anything, so could I just send the mp3 to somebody that has it, find out the BPM, and then tell me?

If you don't want to find the BPM on your own, then you don't really want to do the chart. Most stepchart artists are willing to find the BPM even if there are 100+ BPM changes in their chart.
