Re: The Fitness Thread
I've never done a 1 RM or a 3 RM.
I don't think I ever do less than 5 reps, actually.

Re: The Fitness Thread
Kai looks freaking insane, it's too bad he wont win.
Evan needs to work on his breathing and controlling his waist, I think that's going to cost him the 4-5th place and throw him into the back of the pack... |

Re: The Fitness Thread
Go with one that has adjustable arms so you can do bench and stuff on it without getting squished.

Re: The Fitness Thread
Well, if you're using the rectangular one that's in the pic the most. I would raise those *support* bars up to the 5th hole about (depending on how far you are going down to squat. That's about it. Find the right movements for a squat, and idk, I'm lazy. I don't do these. D:

Then, for bench, get one of the small DB bench press benches and move it into the squat rack. Lay down on it, and put the safety bars at about your chest level so you can get out if you get squished. |

Re: The Fitness Thread
Damn dude, you're more nervous than I was. I walked in the gym for the first time with a half ass routine and no idea what I was doing. I was also a rake.
You'll learn with experience. Can't be afraid to fail if you want to progress.

Re: The Fitness Thread
Squats are probably the hardest exercise to perform in the gym. Don't sweat it if you can't get them right right now. There are always alternatives until you get better at them (leg press, for example).
Worked out for the first time at one of those big fancy chain 24 hour gyms. Wanted to check it out. Tons of good machines in there that my hole in the wall gym doesn't have, but the freeweight section was pretty ass (where the **** are the barbells, benches and god damn there were not enough weights laying around lmao. Couldn't even find enough to fully load the leg press). At least they had a squat rack. The physiques there were a lot tamer than were I go lmao. Some kid was trying to bench 205 and was getting stuck pretty bad and looked like he was about to snap his shit up. I helped a bro out. I think he left immediately afterwards, which is funny because it was the first thing I saw him lift.

Re: The Fitness Thread
Yeah pretty sure I strained something -- quads sore + left knee occasionally buckling + walking with a limp. XD
next time (ie tomorrow, hopefully, if things feel OK. Will do the arm exercises otherwise) |
