Let me summarize how I feel on this: 1. The notion that a boss rush has to be at the "end" is silly. You can have a rush of bosses before the end of the game. In a game like Stepmania where the options of difficulty are endless, you can't even really define a proper "end difficulty" anyways. 2. His abilities as an artist have zero to do with the fucking pack name, stop being a cunt. 3. You're so hung up that the files don't cater towards the higher end of the spectrum. Why does the name imply it needs to be of a certain nature? If you compared it to the counterpart: Stepping Stones, it actually would be a perfect pack na - WAIT THAT MAKES SENSE. James May's Project 0 Pack name had zero to do with the content at all. ODI3 wasn't made on ODI. There's more examples I imagine. |

Will the peanut gallery please be seated.
Come on guys this is honestly childish squabbling at this point, it's a pack title. Yoshi?/YoshL? stated his opinion and Xel disagreed big fuckin' hoopdeedula! Arntonach has decided on the title for the pack as the main person organizing it and as such we all need to sit the fuck down and roll with it. DATS IT.

Re: Boss Rush Mega Pack (Submissions OPEN)~~
Guys let's rename stepping stones to boss rush because to some players the files are really hard!!
In reality i don't actually give a fuck, but for 99% of players when they hear the title "boss rush mega pack" they definitely aren't thinking about 17s.

Re: Boss Rush Mega Pack (Submissions OPEN)~~
my current issue is that xel is misconstruing my point, and trying to make a point that doesn't actually work, given that stepping stones makes sense in its name because it caters to entry-level stepmania. having files that's one step above entry level and calling it "boss rush", which implies you're at the end of a game. bosses are meant to be the final summarization of a level, given a difficult and challenging fight. when you say that 17 being easy on etterna scale is my personal opinion, you also forget that that's where the stepping stones pack ends for difficulty. It's easy.
1. The notion that a boss rush has to be at the "end" is silly. You can have a rush of bosses before the end of the game. In a game like Stepmania where the options of difficulty are endless, you can't even really define a proper "end difficulty" anyways. - I literally said this? did you not read what I said lol. Look at the first paragraph 2. His abilities as an artist have zero to do with the fucking pack name, stop being a cunt. - I'm not being a cunt, I'm saying that as a player who understands what higher level stepmania actually is, what he's trying to put in a super hard songs pack is not what he's accepting. "James May's Project 0 Pack name had zero to do with the content at all." - because the pack name didn't say anything about the files within it at all. "ODI3 wasn't made on ODI." - because the pack creator was continuing a series that became well known for high quality files of their time period, and it delivered. =================== Blah blah blah in trying to write responses to various wrong statements that have been written, i've realized that xel is actually the problem here, he's really the one that's acting like a fucklord who knows everything about stepping, given how far removed from stepmania he is, sorry arntonach i apologize for getting too heated - I just seriously believe that the pack will be better off, and better received with a different name. I believe that there is a better nomenclature for the characterization of the files that you're trying to compile for this pack.

Re: Boss Rush Mega Pack (Submissions OPEN)~~
I'm thinking:
- there's too great of a difficulty range for both Stepping Stones and this pack to really have meaningful intent behind polar opposite terms such as "for beginners" or "for experts"/"boss songs". You could have packs with the current difficulty range but it would be too broad to highlight any particular theme. - or, you could reduce the difficulty range for both packs and make a third pack where the difficulties are in between these two and bridges the gap. But that pack would hardly stand out either...who'd want to play a pack with only mid-difficulty songs? The theme would seem more bland than packs on either end of the spectrum. - or, you could reduce the difficulty range for both packs and have a complete gap in mid-end difficulties with no pack to address the gap. Maybe not the best idea for a progressively growing player. Either way I don't care all too much, but some food for thought. |

Re: Boss Rush Mega Pack (Submissions OPEN)~~
heres an idea - what if the files were stepped in a way that they would also be hard on rates, then even pro players could rush the boss rush !!!

Re: Boss Rush Mega Pack (Submissions OPEN)~~
well yeah
but the point was that people want packs that stand out in some ways, so as much as a mid-level pack would be a solution, it wouldn't really "stand" out in many people's minds...people tend to want something notably easier or notably harder personally I would go with that but I've a feeling it wouldn't really garner much hype |
