Re: New Songs! Coming?
So, lets say there are 5 songs that are accepted. So what does the ffr devs do with the extra 3 songs? "Store Them" and wait another 2 weeks to release them...There is going to be times that more then 2 songs are accepted and the ffr team have to store the over hanging songs to be released the next 2 weeks.

With that being said, you also need to understand that the game's developers have nothing to do with the production of the actual content itself; they produce features for the game's engines and handle other side-wite design/development. All of the content that is produced for the game comes from players like yourself, all of which learned how to create content. If you're interested in contributing, take a look at the FAQ in the section that talks about how to contribute to the site. The information is slightly dated on the tools that you can use, particularly with the creation of a new editor called ArrowVortex, but that should at least get you started in the process. The point that you made about there not being enough fresh content in that difficulty range, no matter how valid, can be addressed through the creation of new content in that area. Take a look at charts that are in game, particularly ones that have been put in within the last 3-4 years, and figure out how they go about structuring themselves with the music. EDIT: It is also quite clear that you're not quite familiar with the process on how content is submitted, aggregated, judged/reviewed, and released as well. It is not as simple as files being judged in a moment's notice and determined to be of reasonable quality. There are bi-monthly batches that occur and content is submitted to them, with reviews happening after each closure. Files are queued and stored for future usage. Yep, they would keep the file safe for another release. Why ? Multiple reasons: events, keeping the distribution not too unfair (by releasing ten 50's in a row), making sure content is always available for future releases, etc. Since you're so inclined to think there's some bad intention anywhere, I'm sure you know all about how our song submissions, judging (and the team), and releases work right ? Why don't you tell me some more about that ? |

Omg, ffr dev team confirmed it " . Files are queued and stored for future usage." I knew they stored songs.. This whole conflict between me and opkiller was over if ffr stored the songs....i knew they did and opkiller was arguing with me they don't. All this thread was about was me asking if they added songs and responded with my opinion. Then, went to say ffr team stores songs and could release more if they wanted every 2 weeks. Re: New Songs! Coming?
As I've said before, you're not understanding the flow of content into the game. Files are naturally going to be stored: batches are run every two months for users to freely send content, and after the submission period for a given period is closed, the files are sent out to judges for review. All of the files that are deemed high enough quality for the game are placed in a queue and are available for release as the Game Management team sees fit.
Something else that you should realize as well: content has been submitted to FFR by users for a very long time, and other files may have been prioritized ahead for various reasons. One of them is to prevent inundation of files that are at the same range all in at one shot (the official tournament is one such situation where this already happens). Additionally, certain files are kept for token releases. Also, files that were planned on being used for official tournament purposes but didn't make the final roster are occasionally saved for the next iteration. Please take the time to understand the submission process from start to finish before making complaints about the lack of content, or the "storage" of content. FFR users that have been around for a while will tell you that there is nothing out of the ordinary about this process — in fact, files are being released faster than they used to be. Some users had files release almost three years after their submission acceptance (sorry hi19hi19, haha). It's just how things worked out. Last edited by TC_Halogen; 07-5-2018 at 10:46 PM.. |

Re: New Songs! Coming?
You're making assumptions about the flow of content, the availability of said content, and additionally making implications about there being large reserves of files where content can be released at a much higher rate. All of that is incorrect.
You continue to refer to the content creators of the game as "developers", when the developers of the game and the site themselves have nothing to do with neither the process of content creation nor the judgment process. You keep mentioning that we receive more than two song submissions every two weeks. The submission process is something that occurs in two-month cycles, where after every two months, files are judged accordingly. At that point, files are quality checked to determine whether or not they are good enough to be placed into a queue for release. There is no "cron job" auto-release of two songs every two weeks. Acting like you have some sort of developmental insight on some automated system is not going to help any sort of argument that you have when you're struggling to understand the submission and judgment processes in the first place. Let me reiterate this as well: I am not a developer for the FFR website/game engines (though I may have an interest in this in the near future). I am someone who creates content for the game and I am a part of the process to determine what files go into the game, and what is required to be reworked on. You're also talking down to a user who has been a part of the community for a long time, and while they might not have any content in the game at the moment, they have gone through the submission and judgment process. Opkiller is not, under any circumstance, oblivious to the process. Finally: you need to stop trying to incite some sort of staff response to increase the release rate of files with your unfamiliarity of the process. Yes, the file release rate has temporarily slowed down. There are reasons for it, and the rate will increase and resume soon. Last edited by TC_Halogen; 07-5-2018 at 11:01 PM.. |

Re: New Songs! Coming?
The concept of "ready to be released" is not always consistent on FFR, that's why I will not say there is a "storage of songs" ready to be released. There are some files that have been accepted and queue'd up, but they might be tournament-worthy and still need to be checked by myself and psychoangel691 (the other tournament batch simfile judge). Files are postponed for release due to the Early Release Special Batch, which is in the judgment process.
Some of those files fall under the situation that I mentioned earlier: files that were accepted in a previous Official Tournament batch, meaning they were suitable for the Official Tournament but were not used due to song roster changes. Those songs are going to be held and considered for this iteration of the tournament. There is a large assortment of files to be judged for the currently ongoing Official Tournament batch (15 out of 58 files have judgment notes publicly released) and it is somewhat often that users submit files high-quality files to these batch that are... not the most suitable for tournament play (or the desires of the management team for this iteration of the tournament). Those files usually end up released fairly close to the event. This concept of "FFR receives more than x songs to be released every 2 weeks" as I've explained to you, does not make sense. You are once again ignoring the process of submission, open batches, and judgment. I can't break this point down any further than I already have. For all I know, in some crazy bizarro-world situation, every good content creator submits something that's terrible for a period and we get no accepted files. The point that is being made is that the number of files that are game-suitable is not a constant one, and it is dependent over a submission period that is longer and less periodic than the two weeks between song releases. |

Re: New Songs! Coming?
Ugh, sounds exactly like what im saying. You have xx amount of song that have been process and checked and that are accepted to be released into the ffr game.
OpKiller state in eariler replay that " that ffr only released 2 songs ever 2 weeks" I said this is ridiculous cause im sure they have a stored songs that are already accepted and approved to be in the game but are being held back untill further notice, but will be released in an upcoming song release right? anyways, im done trying to explain a simple thing to everyone. I know what im talking about...and you have confirmed it in many replies saying Last edited by potasium56; 07-5-2018 at 11:25 PM.. |

Re: New Songs! Coming?
How many songs do you think are "saved up" Potasium?
Like, if we started releasing 10 songs every two weeks, how long until the "stored backlog" empties out do you suspect? |
