Circus Galop Permission
I've wanted to step this particular song:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zrWsKGhPi5I It's similar (though quite different) to the existing Grand Galop Chromatique that is already in FFR. I can't particularly ask the author for permission to possibly use for FFR, as the file I use is a (mp3-ified version of) MIDI file, of which I can't exactly track the author. Any suggestions on what I could do? Edit: I don't use the mp3 part of the vid I linked, I have a better quality version. :3

Re: Circus Galop Permission
A version or two, yes. An actual version for FFR, not so much because nobody will step an easier version to get it accepted.

Re: Circus Galop Permission
Correction: it's because we don't have permission for any performances, nor has anyone made a MIDI for the song. But if that happened, you can always try to submit this gong show of a song.

Re: Circus Galop Permission
Yeah, I guess you are right.
But in all honesty I doubt any of them would even get in anyway unless they were watered down.

Re: Circus Galop Permission
We'd also need permission from Marc-andre Hamelin, wouldn't we?

As for the actual file, I have a MIDI and used a converter to get a proper MP3 off of it. I suppose we would need Hamelin's permission but it seems kind of impossible to contact him :P

Re: Circus Galop Permission
Permission would need to be from the performer of whoever played the song when it was done before the MIDI conversion, iirc.

Re: Circus Galop Permission
The point is that nobody even actually performed it because the piece is rather impossible to play by any human means.

Re: Circus Galop Permission
Also you quickly realize when you start stepping this that, while the song sounds busy, it's actually mostly just 16th jumps because there's just huge chords, not interesting rhythms. You just wind up with jump/hand spam and the occasional 64th roll to the glissandos, it's really not a particularly good song to step.
