Just wondering if anyone out there knows anything about directX because I need to install a new version of it. everytime I ty to install verson 9.0b it stops at copying the file joystick.inf and says installation failed. I cant seem to find a download for version 8 anywhere... that works. so if anyone could shed some light on this topic please do.

Well, I don't know anything about this, but since it stops at joystick.inf, maybe your computer doesnt have support for devices like joysticks, beit through gaming ports or USB ports. That, or your graphics card just doesnt support DirectX 9. If your card is like 8mb or so, then I bet that's the reason.

First off..... Even if your graphics card is 128MB, it still might not support DX9, also, just cuz your graphics card doesnt support DX9, doesn't mean it won't install....
Anyways.... I don't know why it won't install correctly.... Try d/ling it from different places, cuz the file you d/led might be corrupted or there was a mishpa with the d/l... There are a lot of possibilities..... Hope you figure this thing out, cuz otherwise, no halo for you on the PC.....

Buy any game and install it. I promise you it will install DX9 for you. If it doesn't work, or your video card doesn't support DX, then you might as well throw it away, because that's what everything is rendered in for the current and next generation of GPUs.
