stepped a little something
I had absolutely nothing to do today so I decided to step something . I jacked Tank's graphics but I'm sure he won't mind. Overall I think it is a pretty fun simfile. I'm sure it's not like 100% accurate with pitch relevancy and stuff but I'm still getting used to that -_-
ps. play oni

Re: stepped a little something
Played it. Pretty fun. Not the most original song choice but I liked it. =)

Re: stepped a little something
so hey I thought it was pretty good overall. the inclusion of the st. scarhand kind of jumpstream really erks me, though. not because it wasn't a blast to play but because it's turned the file's only purpose for being into those sections. if we had a healthy stepmania community with players at all levels of difficulty actively involved you'd have restricted stuff like that to its own chart. hehe anyway
I'll run through some stuff measure by measure, little things though: m1-m2; the first hand should be just two notes (bass + crash), the second one should be LDR m4 into m5: should be a minijack here m6-m9: I'd make the jump sandwiched in between the 16th gallops just one note imho, since it's just one sound. it's fine as a jump later on m9 fourth beat needs to be a jump, DR would work fine m18: this just is just theoretical...but I think a fun way to make this stream would be to lay out the main melody as normal (possibly with slight randomization here and there) and then fill it into a normal stream by adding 16ths in the gaps. kind of kil style, like in history of the moon? not a flaw in your file I'm just thinking, hehe. m18: what I did notice though is that the jump on every second beat feels right but doesn't actually go to anything. how about putting it to the sound that you had been putting as minifreezes just before this part? then seguing to jumps on every beat as you are now m26: pr awkward here. the 4th note should stay on the same column every measure and the blue notes wander m32-m33: no real reason to leave this blank m34 on: you could probably make this stream pr but not trivially so since it's actually playing minijacks. so don't worry about that either unless you think ur up to it m66 on: would layer in the same melody that you've just been stepping as freezes instead of a simple 4th layering that's about it. you got the PR mostly right so don't fret about that

Re: stepped a little something
thanks for the detailed criticism of my stepfile lol
so it seems the lot of things that I was iffy about turned out to be things you noticed as well. Yea I was trying to be pitch relevant in the actual stream, but then I realized it was giving me patterns that I didn't find fun at all and I ended up discarding it. At the point I just tried to make the patterns during those parts as fun as possible. I also really wanted a jumpstream file since that's what I'm best at, and there haven't been many new :generic: jumpstream files lately -_-
